Need more dials

By blkdymnd, in Runewars Miniatures Game

I just realized we are kind of hampered on how many units we can spilt our forces into by how many dials we have. Would have been nice to have two copies of each dial in everything because you can't do two small, 2 tray units of reanimated or spearman currently

True, but I feel not having rerolls hurts so much when I am using the archers and cav. Not sure maximizing the amount of speed bumps without upgrades you can throw at someone will be that popular.

Popular or not, it's an option they should have planned for if the formation is on the card

This has been noted since GenCon of last year. I think as a starter set, it's acceptable to have only four, fixed units in the box. If someone wants smaller units, that's what the expansions are for. Sure, it would have been nice, but the core set is already such a steal as it is, that I can't imagine asking for more from it.

yet again with the starter set they give you only one option which is tray every single unit type together, what if i dont want to buy add ons ? what if i only want to split those starter set units ? there should be an option and not a forcing towards buying expansion boxes for those who dont want to buy any

It is worst I guess on Golem and Worms expansion, because there is only one dial and two units. About starter I feel no pain to split all the unit to the minimum size since it is only related problem to infantry.

Oh, cmon it's the same with the upgrade cards, all of this can be easy proxyed with pen and paper in your private plays

It seems FFG can't help themselves - on most of their 'lifestyle' games they seem to have some tiny little component that they could have included but just don't.

Lifestyle games already ask their consumers to spend a lot, so it really irks me stuff like this. It's the same with Imperial Assault - any skirmish unit that only comes in a boxed expansion is artificially limited because they don't put in the correct amount of deployment cards.

Similar thing here I'm afraid. I can buy two cores and one of every expansion - that'll leave me with 10 trays of infantry - which should be an option of 1-5 unit options but instead I'll only have 3 dials so...

Interestingly the Rune Golems and Carrion Lancers expansions have 2 deployment cards in the pictures - so hopefully that's indicative of 2 dials? Although only one dial is pictured...

fixing things with pen and paper is not a solution, i bought a box full with beautiful components only to fix some of its problems with pen and paper ? how is that a solution ?

the problem here they are forcing ya to buy multiples of the boxes only to use one full box and partial components of the others. by forcing i mean if you have the attention to break up your army into smaller orders, specially once the game got released and people invest time on it, they will be able to come up with tons of army builds and formations
