IIRC adding dice doesn't count as modifying, therefore in a (not smart) corner case can you use Opportunist to add a die to Snap Shot?

True. I'm playing in a small tourney where your opponent gets to declare one of your ships as "bounty" which gives them double points if destroyed. But for that the ship is allowed an extra EPT at zero cost. Thinking of slapping it on one of my ships in a Snap Rhyme Swarm (Black Sq x4 w/snap shot and Maj Rhymer w/snap shot, title, tactician, ops specialist, and LWF).

Not my list, I just made a tweak. Should be fun, especially if the TIE gets that bonus die, though it would be harder to start the focus factory that is an OpsSpec Swarm.

Why only on an A-Wing? Wouldn't it help any ship it was on?

Because Opportunist and Snap Shot are both EPTs and only A Wings can take multiple EPTs.
