With the new FAQ updated, FFG did something with Hotshot Copilot that makes no sense... Now it seems like the ship equipped with it has to be spending the tokens... This is completely different from what the card was originally intended to do... FFG, fix this!!!

Why Hot Shot co-pilot was never taken in the first place. The intention is simple, force stripping of focus tokens. So if a player has a focus token and you attack (normally) with hot-shot then that player will have to spend a focus token even if they roll all evades and blanks. Likewise if a player attacks you and they have a focus token while you have a co-pilot. They will have to spend the focus to modify even if it 0 dice to hits, unless there is a condition where they cannot spend it such as being range 1 from Canor Jax.
So it makes Accuracy Corrector and snap shots sort of like work-arounds hot-shot co-pilot. If you have AC you can use it to save your focus token when attacking a co-pilot. Same for snap shot but I don't really know why someone will have a focus, most have an evade for Juke.

Come on, be fair. It is, possibly, the worst-written "clarification" in the history of gaming ... at least in the subset of those that can be parsed to mean what they actually say.
