I'm purchasing another item and looking for your thoughts. I like flying rebels, I do try to fly different list alot. We play mostly casual, but I think I want to try my hand in a local tournament or two. I have narrowed it down to either 1st core set or heros of the rebellion.

This is what I own

REBEL:
TFA CORE SET, A WING/1, B WING/1, E WING/1, T-70/1, X-WING/1,VCX-100/1, SABINE'S TIE/1, K WING/1

GALACTIC:
FIRESPRAY-31/1, TIE ADVANCED PROTO/1, TIE DEFENDER/2, TIE STRIKER/1, TIE-FO/1, TIE -SF/1, IMPERIAL VERTEANS/1.

SCUM:
KIJRAXZ FIGHTER/1, PROTECTORANT STARFIGHTER/1, STARVIPER/1, MOST WANTED/1,QUADJUMPER/1

Core set= Biggs, r2, afew I might be missing plus afew nice tie pilots.

Heros expansion = ray, finn, poe, black one title, and of course the falcon.

It's just Biggs is just such a big part of rebels atm.

Is there a reason you can't get both? Because both are good.

If you can find someone who prefers Imperials who might be able to sell you their Biggs X-wing stuff from their core, that might be a good idea. Or find a friend who doesn't have the original core and split the box with them.

Can you be more specific about what you like to fly?

Biggs and R2D2 may be important from the original core and you certainly have the ships that could use those but there isn't much there for the Empire as you'd still want/need the standard TIE Expansion to get Howlrunner or the Gonzanti to get the rest. From a recreational PoV I think Heroes could be more enjoyable yet you don't hear a lot about those ships doing well in tournament; it would give you triple T-70 options however.

You may like playing Rebels but looking at the collection I'm thinking the Imperials have the most tournament worthy options.

I try to keep options for 3 factions to keep things new and fun to a point. I have run afew imperial list and they are fun. The 3 tie pilots in the core set will be nice to have. I always find myself standing in the store staring at all the ships and my brain just bounces around like my 3 year old, which by the way us where I'm at right now.

Well folks I would to thank you for the ideas but I pulled the trigger and grabbed the core. To my delight the place I purchase my toys has a frequent buyers program. I thought I had used all my points but I seem to have 30 point h.o.r expansion is 35 so 5 points and I get it half price. I guess the kids need a new movie this weekend. Win , win

I would usually say original core set as it has a lot of useful things in it(extra dice, templates, tokens, etc) but I notice that you say you like to play Rebels and you don't have the best Rebel there is.

That's right, everyone's favorite co-pilot, Nien Numb! He was so good as a co-pilot, they gave him his own ship for the next big battle. He now flies a T70 Xwing for the Resistance and is considered a Hero of the Resistance. So his inclusion alone, should make your decision for you. Also there's this guy.
