Nothing Compares to U(wings)

Yeah,

This season I will mostly be flying u-wings.

The First List was
+Nothing Compares to U-Wings+
Blue Squadron Pathfinder + Fire-Control System + Pivot Wing (25)
Blue Squadron Pathfinder + Fire-Control System + Pivot Wing (25)
Blue Squadron Pathfinder + Fire-Control System + Pivot Wing (25)

I've so far taken this list to two local tournaments.

Most opponents panic a little when they see the list. :)3.jpg.63a5f9f816d8eff2bf60febd53e1bb8b.jpg

They did quite well and I'm getting a feel for the U wing.4.jpg.a7db489de90dcbf71c4f1302f8fb0d6b.jpg

And they are loads of fun!

I flew them for the first time at a tournament they finished 72nd out of 90 :(
However I did learn the dial and how pivot wing works.
And when they worked well they were sharks!

So I flew the same exact list at another smaller tournament and ended up 8/38 :)

I think what the list does well is block, take a punch and then hit back.
They are great blockers and can easily tie up large sections of the board.
They can soak up large amounts of fire, especially if I can spread it around.
Pivoting healthy ships to landing mode to lower their agility was often tempting enough to mess with my opponents target priority.

I think at four ships FCS is pretty optimal?
Although I may try switching 1 ship to Anti pursuit lasers and throw that in head first?

I've since then started to look at triple U list building.
This is my first Triple U build.

+Triple Threat!+
Blue Squadron Pathfinder + Fire-Control System + Gunner + Tactician + Pivot Wing + Anti-Pursuit Lasers (34)
Blue Squadron Pathfinder + Fire-Control System + Gunner + Tactician + Pivot Wing + Anti-Pursuit Lasers (34)

Blue Squadron Pathfinder + Fire-Control System + Gunner + Tactician + Pivot Wing (32)

So far i have only flown it in one game, It did really well, but against a new player.

So what do we think?
What would you try and why?

You sir are awesome.

I have 2 U wings. I wish I had 4.

My wallet hates you for this....

It's interesting!! I think the most complicated part would be blocking lanes and not letting an opponent have your backside for free. With good piloting the 4 ship list would probably beat the 3 ship list, but the 3 ship would be much more consistent. Just for fun, could and would something with 3 and Biggs work? maybe Jyn on one, Jan on another and tactical jammer on another?? maybe pointless, but could really mess with opponents ability to focus fire

Reminds me of my "stampede" list back in the day. 4 lambdas with manglers lol

Three U-wings and Jess Pava

I actually saw to it that I have four U-Wings for this particular list. But I've never flown it yet...

Looks like I really have to try some time. Though adding Jess sounds really intriguing, too!

If I had another U wing I'd definitely try this out:

(100)

Blue Squadron Pathfinder (25) - U-Wing
Fire Control System (2), Pivot Wing (0)

Blue Squadron Pathfinder (25) - U-Wing
Fire Control System (2), Pivot Wing (0)

Blue Squadron Pathfinder (24) - U-Wing
Collision Detector (0), "Chopper" (0), Hera Syndulla (1), Pivot Wing (0)

Jess Pava (26) - T-70 X-Wing
R2 Astromech (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

As the ARC-player who lost to you, my own feeling was that if we had a rematch I think that it'd be a close-run fight which could go either way. FCS really helped you to do damage, but APL would be interesting. Changing anything might lead to your opponents targeting the one ship that's different. That might be good or bad...

I've got 4, and the hardest part (for me) is learning how to fly them. I couldn't keep them all pointed at the same target and was never sure when to Pivot. Also, do you have any tips on Turn 0? (how to set up the ships and rocks, etc.)

I also had thought about Jess! She's amazing in a 4 ship squad.

Otherwise, I'd considered 3 U's, all with FCS, Gunner, and Operations Specialist. Just to guarantee the second shot is full modded. Tactician might be the better play, though.

You don't really need all 3 with OpSpec, just one will ensure they all get a focus after missing since it's not limited to once per round. That frees up some pts for other crew or engine.
