Star hawks are OP?

Wasn't just the tractor beam. It said in Empire's End that it had many subsytems 10x more powerful. Doesn't mean EVERYTHING, but I do expect StarHawks to have firewpower superior to an ISD2, at least partially. Like maybe 5 red dice in front but no blue.... something asymmetrical but at least possibly superior.

I also expect a ship like that to COST more than an ISD2. I also expect the game to be heading towards 500 points by then also, to help make way for (hopefully) super star destroyers.

I'm not gonna lie, that sounds like incredibly lazy design. Just randomly declaring a bunch of stuff to be TEN TIMES AS POWERFUL as if the ****ing Galactic Empire wasn't already staying close to the cutting edge. If they wanted to say it had more guns and was just generally bigger, sure. I'm down. Or maybe it has more guns but it can barely handle the power drain of firing a complete broadside. You know, give it higher performance and a drawback to match. But really? Ten times as powerful? Stuff like this is why I never got into Legends back when it was just called the EU.

That said if they bring it down to rational levels and throw it in Armada in the 120-130 point range that's cool. I don't like the laziness that went into describing how and why it surpassed the ISD but I'm okay with the idea that the New Republic built something better, and I'd be happy to have it in Armada.

I get that. Wendig isn't exactly the best author. But the Battle of Jakku was probably the high point of the trilogy - so while it wasn't perfect, it was the best part, and I enjoyed it. The part where he briefly explained the 10x power never bothered me. I don't need to know why it's more powerful... It's already the newest class of ship in the galaxy, so that explains most of it already. Plus they aren't mass-produced... they literally have only 3 at the time. So yeah that would explain why they are better - mass producing means you sacrifice quality for quantity - so I would expect it to be better regardless.

The numbers Disney is coming up with for the new ships are absurd. The MC75 has merely twice the firepower of a gunship, while the Finalizer has like 10x+ the firepower of an ISD at less than twice the length (and despite that, taking out "the" turbolaser turret on the belly was supposed to be significant...?).

The more I hear about the novel additions, the more I wonder what Disney is thinking by authorizing those scripts. Where in the blazes is their editor to control the outcome so it doesn't sound like mary sue fanfiction?

Ten times more powerful. Really? I can believe the Finalizer being as grand as it is as the result of Kuat plowing on with technological development for thirty years, but the New Republic getting a super ship simply through re-combining decommissioned, disassembled Imperial ships? If it's that easy why didn't the Empire do it already? And ten is such a jump. Was the HMS Dreadnought really ten times more powerful than its predecessors when it was unveiled? I don't think so, certainly not by ten times.

Norra Wexley is the only pure book character in Armada right now, everyone else (Shara Bey, Cienna Ree, Sloane) all have other featured places in other comics in media. With that precedent, Star Hawks might appear, hopefully opposite of Resurgents or Maxima-A cruisers. Though one question I'd like to ask is if anyone knows what these 'Star Hawks' look like.

Which comic or other media had Cienna Ree? I can't recall seeing her mentioned anywhere other than Lost Stars.

By the end of the war the ISD-II was about a decade old and most Imperial funding and resources were tie d (hehehe) up in secret weapons research. I doubt outside of a few select commands (see Thrawn, Sloane, or other competent commanders) or those assigned to remote and uneventful sectors, the ships are kept in top condition. Coupled with the fact Kuat drive yards is an established military industry whose contracts aren't based on quality but connections, they're going to cut corners resulting in lower quality ships. With experienced crew casualties mounting the average ISD is going to be less effective than their rebel counterparts.

Also, the Starhawks are in preparation for the Resurgent class Star Destroyers. If the rebels (new republic) didn't start advancing now to become a naval threat, the remaining Imperial Navy would have no reason to flee to the unknown regions.

Hmm... that would seem to be my mistake. What I thought was a comic depiction is actually from an atlas.

So, two characters?
