Are we running out of Rebel fighters?

Both seem like terrible options.

Yes they do. But as FFG seem intent with flooding the game with new ships rather than improving what we already have, I'd prefer the new ships weren't total crap right out of the box.

No more than we are running out of Imperial or Scum fighters.

Then you also got crossovers and clone wars too. I'm still waiting on Stolen Lamda Shuttle.

A movie tie-in is inevitable. They are scraping the bottom of the Rebel barrel at the moment. The Aussie Truck is possibly a way to introduce the Reinforce function for X-Wings.

Actually this is a great idea. The T-65 X-Wing and maybe even the Rebel Y-Wing should be able to do this action. In A New Hope theres lots of chatter about switching power to rear / front deflector shields etc. Should be a Modification tho so the X-Wing cant use IA and Reinforce that would be OP.

There are so many.

T-Wing

H-Wing

R-41 Starchaser

H-60 Tempest

X4 Gunship

Aegis-Class combat shuttle

T65X3J X-Wing

Defender-Class Starfighter

M-Type Starfighter

Suncrusher cannot be destroyed, but upon entering the Event Horizon of a star, roll 1 attack die. On any result, remove Sun Crusher from the table?

Attack 0. If the Sun Crusher would overlap a ship, it completes its manoeuvre as normal, and any ships it would have overlapped are destroyed.

Double posting is really easy on this BB system

How many fighter types does a Rebellion really need?

A-Wings: Dog-fighting superiority fighters
Y-Wings: Bombers
K-Wings: Heavy Bombers
B-Wings: Capital ship hunters
X-Wings: All-purpose fighters
E-Wings: Next gen all-purpose fighters
Z-95s: Economy all-purpose fighters

There aren't really any "roles" left for future ship types to fill, and certainly not much need for them. Like, with the H-Wing and the T-Wing of legends, what novel roles were they filling? Even the E-Wing is sort of already in the no-man's land of "When an A-Wing and a X-Wing love each other very much..." Is there really any interesting design space between the ship types worth exploring for things like V-Wings and T-Wings?

You can make a similar list for every fraction.

It's true that design space is becoming limited in a way:

1. Dials can only be so bad (before nobody takes them) or so good (before they're broken), so that's a limit we're approaching.
2. Upgrade bars can only be combined in so many ways before a broken combination is available. For instance, a double rebel astromech would make for a broken R2 + R2-D2 combo with PTL...

However, there's still at least 5 waves of play (until wave 15) before all the super good dogfighter designs disappear, at which point you'll probably see either a new faction (Chiss, Republic, CIS, Yuuzhan Vong, etc) to increase variety again.

Sabine's Raider, Sabine's Firespray, Sabine's Jumpmaster, Sabine's Tie Advanced and Sabine's VT-49.

She really gets around.

I think eventually they will adapt the snowspeeder to outer space. (And I guess it will be someway similar to the quadjumper, putting a tractor beam token backwards). I remember that recently Kyle Katarn has gotten other ship in the Cannon, the Raven's Claw. It would be a nice adition to rebels.

Honestly, would it kill FFG to release new pilots for X-wings, Y-wings, and A-wings? Give us blue squadron! phonix squadron! Wedge in an Awing! I don't think anyone would protest more classic ships getting some love (and new paint schemes. ^_^)

Maybe an 'EX-ship' box with in-universe concept fighters that never went into production, similar to Gruman's famous X-29. They could even be game unique with the player with the higher initiative getting to field it and both having a back up ship to fill out the list.

While episode 9 is still a long way out, there are some really interesting ship concepts in the art submitted for the ILM art challenge. Both the 'new species' that was part of the challenge and several of the fighters are really creative. Who knows what we will see in episode 8 as well. Since the First Order destroyed the New Republics seat of government the galaxy is once again plunged into war. We could get new pilots and titles for all the existing fighters as well as some cutting edge New Republic hardware. If Poe was flying T-85 X-wings, is there a C-wing space superiority fighter or a Z-99 strike fighter out there as well?

Best Autocorrect of the Day. Gives new meaning to the 501st. I like them much better than the OneHalves :)

I'd like to see a Battle of Endor set that had campaign elements and gives squadron titles to all the Ep 4-6 production starfighters.

Then introduce three new factions

seperatists

clones

jedi

With each ship give it 2 dials and at least 1 pilot that works with one of our 3 current factions (Empire, Rebellion, Scum)... Maybe a title for its new faction and one for the established factions too.

No need to add new confusing factions. Canon and Legends have most of the ships from that era in use by one side or another in the galactic civil war.

V-wing and Eta-2 Actis by the empire

Delta-7 aethersprite, ARC, N-1, and belbalb-22 by the rebels

And scum isn't a formal faction in canon or legends, but they easily could get the various droid fighters, the belbalb-22, or really anything you want to give them.

(Same for big ships actually.. The rebels had smaller republic ships like the consular class and pelts class, as well as the separatist stuff like the lucrehulk, munificent, and providence classes. While the empire just shifted the acclamater and venetor class star destroyers to less front line roles.)
