Heroes Painted

By VAYASAN, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Been posting here last few weeks as a newcomer...slowly closing in on our first real game (ive had a few play tests) and I have finally now completed the first heroes from the core set (yeah yeah i msure you lot have see them a million times).

Sorry for the really crappy quality images, just off my phone and not good quality.

Pained some using a guide and some using the character card picture as a general idea.

Also still trying to decide what to do with the bases...find it odd the main characters have the smallest bases in the box...I might put them on something a bit more flashy.

Nice work!

For myself I usually just paint the bases black and put a red border for masters.

Someone else had some really nice clear plastic bases (so you can see the board) that worked very nicely.

Other simple options are to paint a cobblestone pattern on the existing base, or cover with craft glue and apply sand and some hobby grass for details.

Seeing all these threads about painted minis make me feel very uninskilled

Great Job :)

Because of reasons I couldn't change the bases, so I just slapped on a thick layer of Agrellan Earth which gives a nice cracked earth texture. Just a bit of grey to create details from the cracked earth and a wash of Agrax Earthshade and I had some rather nice bases.

Samples found here .

I think it's a really nice middle ground between buying or making scenic bases (which will make your monsters look rather pitiful on their flat plates unless you rebase every single miniature!) or just going with flat bases with a uniform colour.

So am I ... :(

I actually painted some D&D stuff, and I'm satisfied with the results...for me. I lack the time and patience to apply technics like dry brush, highlights, etc. I´'ll see if I find the pics I took and post here somewhere.
