Concord Dawn protector count as modifying?

By Frostweasel, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Basically it's in the title, does adding an evade result with Concord Dawn Protector or evade token count as modifying your roll? In my opinion modifying only covers changing an existing result. We had this issue crop up last week with Fenn Rau versus Omega Keader who had him target locked.

Yes, it counts as modifying

From the Rules Reference Guide:

MODIFYING DICE
Players can modify dice by spending focus, evade,
and target lock tokens and by resolving card abilities.
Dice can be modified in the following ways:
• Add : To add a die result, place an unused die
displaying the result next to the rolled dice. A die
added in this way is treated as a normal die for
all purposes and can be modified and canceled.
• Change : To change a die result, rotate the die
so that its faceup side displays the new result.
• Reroll : To reroll a die result, pick up the die and
roll it again.
• Dice can be modified by multiple effects, but a die
cannot be rerolled more than once.

Even more reason to hate Omega Leader then lol.

Fenn Rau still gets to roll an extra Dice at range 1 though. He's a bugger to hit but can fall quickly to bad Dice.

A solid rule of thumb is if it involves the word 'result(s)' that's modifying. Case in point, CDP title adds a result (and is blocked), Fenn Rau adds a die (and is not blocked).

Unless "result(s)" is preceded by "cancel".

Except if its Bossk and Snapshot.

Nope, Bossk's results there are preceded by 'add'. The one preceded by 'cancel' is not a modification. The ones preceded by 'add' are.

So what is digitalbusker referring to?

Cancelling results is not a modification.

Bossk's ability cancels one result (not a modification) and adds two (a modification).

It is, in fact, two things.

I understand now thanks. The first cancel works. But the add does not.

So for Bossk on omega leader then, you can cancel the dice, but then you can't add? Kinda confused here, and sorry if it's not on the CDP.

Yes, exactly that.

I won a kit tournament once when an opponent used accuracy corrector to cancel [boom][eye] and then, because he was shooting at O'Leader with the TL, was kept from adding the other two.

I tried to get him to reconsider using AC. He had a focus token.

Focus token still wouldn't have helped against Omega Leader.
