Which scenarios are impacted most by additional products?

By DukeOfAnkh, in Mansions of Madness

Hey everyone, I currently own all the Second Edition Products:

  • Core Set
  • Recurring Nightmares
  • Suppressed Memories
  • Beyond the Threshold
  • DLC - What Lies Within

And I'm wondering which scenarios are most impacted by owning the other products?

My basic thought is to take a Scenario that is highly impacted and play it with only the required products the first time so that additional re-plays can be changed by the addition of other products.

Hope that makes sense.

I was wondering the same thing. I know there's talk about how some scenarios have 3 or 4 maps, but are these additional maps fixed as to which tiles they use or are additional tiles randomly inserted into the map (assuming it's of the correct shape). IOW, is there a chart which shows which scenarios use maps from which expansion? So you could enable the various expansions one at a time to insure you get the changed map.

No answers here, but further questions: The two times we've played what lies within, it just reverse-mirrored the map layout. Some tile may have been rotated to accomodate the mirroring. Does that count as a map? because it felt very disappointing. We'd be better without it because it felt exactly the same. We knew where every tile would be.

I think WLW should come with 4 maps? 2 for the core game, 1 for Recurring Nightmares and 1 for Suppressed Memories

Shattered Bonds has an extra map with Recurring Nightmares, and so does Circle of eternity. I don't own Suppressed Memories so I'm not sure if it adds anything.

The extra maps use also some of the monsters from the collection.

Do they only add expansion monsters alongside the expansion tiles or can any monster show up in any scenario?

The common monster pool is always active if expansions are checked, regardless of the tiles actually showing up on screen. For example, if you want to play a truly Lovecraftian Escape from Innsmouth, turn off all expansions, and you'll have fish, more fish and finally deep one fish

Yeah like Julia said, when you tick the Collections on, the app will take monsters from a bigger pool in some scenarios. I believe some monsters will always be the same in specific moments but others will vary. When playing the scenarios, the monsters were combined I believe, and just because I was playing Circle of Eternity with the map that uses tiles from Recurring Nightmares, it didn't mean all monsters were exclusively from that collection, but a mixture.

I believe it's the same like the Road to Legend app for Descent, where some monsters are fixed, while others are randomly taken from a monster pool, based on what expansions and add-ons you own.
