Hi guys.
I recently got into the Scum faction. It started when I won a Shadow Caster Expansion Pack in a Facebook competition (I gave a 'sob story' about how I deserved it as a child who grew up without a shadow. The other kids calling me names like "No-Shadow" and "Transparenthor").
But anyway. I figured I'd need something else to run an actual list, so I ordered two Protectorate Starfighters to go with it. I've had fun running the following list;
Lancer-class Pursuit Craft: · Asajj Ventress (37)
Fearlessness (1)
Gyroscopic targeting (2)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Rigged Cargo Chute (1)
Protectorate Starfighter: Concord Dawn Veteran (22)
Push The Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
Protectorate Starfighter: Concord Dawn Veteran (22)
Push The Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
I liked this quite a bit. The action efficiency and Stress control of Asajj combined with the maneuverability and aggressive playstyle of the Concord Dawn fighters made for somethong quite uniquely 'Scum'. A different experience in many ways.
However, I've recently been testing a new build out on the X-Wing Benchmark site. Someone picked up a HWK-290 for me as a Christmas gift so I picked up the Scum cards and pilot tokens from a singles site. Here's what I came up with;
Protectorate Starfighter: · Fenn Rau (28)
Push The Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
Protectorate Starfighter: · Old Teroch (26)
Push The Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
HWK-290: · Palob Godalhi (20)
Opportunist (4)
Blaster Turret (4)
K4 Security Droid (3)
· Moldy Crow (3)
I usually slow-roll at the start of the game to give Palob a chance to build up a decent supply of tokens (usually 3) with the Fangs close by.
When it comes to initial engagement, Fenn Rau and Old Teroch aren't shy about flying head-on so I get them into range 1 of a single enemy ship; then have Palob roll up behind (hopefully within range 2 if I planned it right).
Palob steals a token (which is AWESOME when it's a TIE Defender giving you an Evade token).
Old Teroch picks the enemy ship that is currently in the best position to cause hurt and removes its tokens.
I usually destroy or at least badly damage the target in this round (depending if Fenn got his range 1 shot and Palob's 4 dice attack via Opportunist does it's maximum damage with K4 and focus).
As a new Scum player I really love the action efficiency of K4 Security droid and find it difficult to take something else in the Crew slot; but I'll get there ![]()
Granted, this was all against the AI in Benchmark. How does this list (or the first one mentioned) measure up in terms of being viable against human players? Anything in particular to look out for?
