Nice write up! To simplify a bit I'd probably combine some categories into "offense" and "defense". I think most of the "area control" category can fit into "offense", like using "self defense" with Shyla to get an extra damage. I think most of the character specific cards can fit into the categories you already created, like greedo's ability falls under modify defense results.

If you're running spies I think "intelligence leak" is absolutely mandatory. That is one of the best cards in the game.

I think you're right. I started off with a much simpler classification system, but it became very difficult to wrap my head around what was in each of those, so I chose to break it down another level, giving me the 15 or so categories I put in this article. That said, I think you can definitely group a lot of these for further simplification.

I have to concede that Intel Leak is awesome. I think when I was writing this I was imprinting the games where I was holding it and my opponent didn't have any cards in his/her hand.

Yea too many categories, offensive and defensive are good enough overarching categories. Then just have one called utility
