So just had a thought, when Thrawn commences the ground attack with the heavy battalions, Wedge/Hobbie Awing squadron engages them from the air. They then have to fend of the TIE attack and then escort the fleet off world as the bendu arrives.

When the bendu attacks bothsides, you see him strike down an Awing, and as the camera pans to the the Ghost escaping you see the hit Awing still intact but hurtling towards the surface.

I'm thinking that this Awing is Wedge, taking a nod to his Legends story of going down in an Awing on similar planet and being rescued.

Future filler episode in season 4 maybe? Heh
