Our FLGS (Hero Complex Games) has been trying to get Imperial Assault play going and ran a tournament for it on Sunday. We sadly almost didn't have it, with just three people showing up at first but a fourth joined us and we just played round robin. I was running my Imperial Hunter list with The Inquisitor,2× eWeequay, Terro w/ feeding frenzy, regular Dewback and a rOfficer and Zillo
Our first mission was Reconnaissance. I played a gent named Ben who was new to skirmish from the campaign. He had been the fourth that decided to jump in. He was running Terro, The Inquisitor, eStormies, eHeavies with TC, an eOfficer and Zillo. He had initiative and took the deployment zone that's upstairs. . We both maneuvered around a bit, with the round ending with my Terro and Inquistor on their side of the doors and his Inquisitor and a pair of the storm troopers in their side, all doors closed. My Dewback and his Terro were near each other on the other end of the hallway, along with my Weequays and his heavies. Through early shooting and a good shock lance roll I was able to bring down Terro quickly and the Heavies soon after. Our inquisitors both moved over , which allowed Terro to sneak behind him and get in a very devastating flamethrower that hit all of his storm troopers. After our inquisitors dueled for a turn I finished them off and picked off a set of his troopers to end the game.
In the second round I played another guy I met there, Donovan, who ended up winning the tournament. He was running a very tough list with The Inquisitor, eJets with TC, eStormies, Royal Guard and 3 officers. We had decided to do To Your Stations so we wouldn't have to redo tiles. I again had the upstairs location here and was going second. This mission I hadn't gotten to play very often so I was uncertain how aggressive to be. I played a little defensively here, because I didn't draw negation and I was concerned with all of the storm troopers getting open shots on my Dewbacks or dropping the inquisitor early. Donovan had played very aggressively running the Royal Guards into the small room and grabbing both stations. Terro and the Inquisitor both moved to contest the other station. I underestimated his jetroopers though as they popped over and plunked Terro. His inquisitor also ran up and got in a slash. This however left him vulnerable to my Weequays and with heightens reflexes I put him down to just 3 health early. I'm a little glad I did play defensively as he did take initiative and put Terro to 1 health with his inquisitor. I finished off his with mine and a lightsaber throw as I tried to get the cleave to finish a jet. Didn't get the surge though. His jets then finished Terro and moved away. On the other side he popped open the door with his stormies and put some damage onto my dewback. My Weequays then got a guard that had moved up but got stunned from the other one in the process. The game continued with him picking off one set of Weequays, the setback and officer as my other Weequays and inquisitor got a jet, his troopers and an officer. He ended up getting to 40 with controlling the stations. I learned I really needed to be more aggressive through the doors to contest those stations and remove his troopers quickly. I should have had Terro leading that charge as well to use flamethrower to just knock out all of those troopers quickly and get his activation advantage down.
The final game was against my good friend who's Jedi Luke list I have been beaten down by lately. He runs Jedi Luke, obi wan,leia,gideon,3p0,Mak,and MHD. We played Lair of the Dianoga. I had iniative and ended up moving everyone away from the doors near the one terminal towards the other side. I used Terro to open the door and ended up doing 7 damage to the Dianoga with the Weequays. My opponent ran Luke in to attack and used Leia to triggering again. He rolled very poorly though and ended up doing 12 damage to it. I decided to take initiative and finish it with a lightsaber throw from the inquisitor to try and get a cleave on Luke but failed to. We both moved our troops closer to the terminal except for Mak, Leia and my regular dewback who decided to fight it out near the doors. The Dewback took damage but knocked out Mal before he could activate and then I ran him away. On the other side Terro took some heat from Luke who had been moved by Gideon and survived a double attack. He proceeded to flamethrower Luke and Obi Wan before retreating behind a wall of Weequays who put 8 damage onto Luke. My opponent tried to take initiative but I had Negation. Which allowed my Weequays with Tools for the job to take out Luke. The Inquisitor then came up and put a big hit on obi wan before he killed a Weequay and was subsequently killed. 3p0 then got caught by some weequays as Leia moved up and finished my Dewback. In the most hilarious moment of the day, a wounded MHD ran up and syab the inquisitor to weaken him, and then completely whiffed his attack to kill him. It was over soon though as the Weequays finished him.
Overall it was a very fun event for my first tournament. I ended up in second and met some new area players.
