So I was playing Quickdraw and my opponent shot at Quickdraw with Backdraft out of the front arc. This attack took a shield (I cannot remember how many) off of Quickdraw and then I took a retaliation shot with Quickdraw's ability which killed Backdraft. However, when he shot with Backdraft he only rolled two attack dice so he could then make an attack out of the back at another one of my ships. I was wondering how the timing works? I deferred to him on how the sequence would go (since he is far more experienced than me). He ruled that Backdraft was removed before the additional attack out the back since it was a completely separate attack and was worded differently from gunner (and was also not simultaneous fire). Is this the right ruling (I think so, but I have never seen it addressed before)?
Quickdraw, Backdraft, and the Title
Almost. When Quickdraw was first spoiled we had some discussion of where her ability would fit in during an attack like this. Would she get to do her thing as soon as she lost her shield (during Step 7 on the Timing Chart), meaning she could destroy her attacker before it had a chance to trigger after-attack abilities (Step 9)? In that model, your friend would be correct, and Backdraft would be removed before he had a chance to perform his Special Ops training aux arc attack.
But! We recently had a FAQ clarification that if Quickdraw loses her shield during an attack, her ability triggers during Step 9. That would mean that Backdraft's after-attack would also have a chance to resolve, although which one goes first would depend on which of you had initiative, so if you had initiative and Quickdraw put Blinded Pilot onto Backdraft, Backdraft wouldn't be able to make the aux arc attack.
****! Ninja'd.

Thanks for the information! That makes sense and now I know for future use
