Jabba preview

It does a lot less than it would with all 3 crew slots available.

It's not a bad ship, sure, but it's an obvious first target when Jabba dying stops the illicit doubling working, it's big, squishy, and lacking its usual punch to make it scary to approach.

Fair enough.

I'm sure Scum will get it's own Auzituck/TIE Shuttle-type ship eventually though. Hopefully when they do it won't have dumb wording on it that prevents them from putting Jabba on it the way the TIE Shuttle does with Palpatine.

That's not dumb wording, that's deliberate "We don't want you turning Empire's spam ships into crew carriers to spam our expensive crew - keep it cheap nerds".

Besides, Emperors and Generals don't ride in bomb-carriers. Have you seen how cramped those things are? Don't even have leather seats.

No. When you (ignoring that 'you' refers to the ship not the player) would discard an illicit card, discard the token instead. Arguably that's checked when the card is discarded, not when Jabba is equipped. And if it's not it does mean you can bring Az and Jabba, and space jabba and replace him with Dengar the instant the game starts which sounds kinda bent if not broken.

Ooh true, I'd not noticed that. Using Az on the CRC to swap out Jabba for Gunner once the tokens have been spent might actually be viable.

THinking about lists:

Bossk (35)
Determination (1)
Jabba The Hutt (5)
Dengar (3)
"Hot Shot" Blaster (3)

Ketsu Onyo (38)
Fearlessness (1)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Shadow Caster (3)

Total: 100

Oh I see...

Nice push for Z95s and especially Kihraxzes!

I had experted something like 2crew slots and illicit mechanism. But feared as well, that it's then only Yv666 outside of Epic. I will certainly get a C-Rock, but not being a fan of large bases, I am absolutely not keen on buying an YV.

My first thought was Emon. You can SLAM twice now which makes Advanced Slam a bit more appetizing. He's not a K-wing but I think I want to make him work...

Emon Azzameen (36)
Cluster Mines (4)
Burnout SLAM (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Advanced SLAM (2)
Slave I (0)

Total: 45

I have an Epic game lined up, and I was planning on using my "Oops, all Attanni" list.

But honestly I actually really want to give Emon a run having seen this, so I think it'll be Emon, a C-ROC (Proxied with the Imperial Gozanti using the Imperial Gozanti dial for now) and some cheap missile Zs and cannon Scyks for support. Plus either Xizor or Guri, because all my ships are custom painted in Black Sun colours and I can't bring myself to run an Epic game without a StarViper on the field.

Every fan created Jabba the Hutt crew card I've seen in the past 15 months has had Jabba using 2 crew slots. Every time I see this suggestion, I respond in the thread that this is a horrifically bad idea from a game design standpoint, because you've essentially made a crew that goes in exactly ONE ship in standard play (YV-666) and that a MUCH better way to make do it still retaining the "big guy" flavor, is just to make him a Scum character who says "Scum. Large and Huge Ship Only."

Well....here we are. If you ever want to play Jabba in standard, your options are YV-666, YV-666, and YV-666. I mean, heaven forbid that we have options in list building, right? Give us too much wiggle room, and we end up making U-Boats, I guess. Thanks, FFG. Thank you. Thank you for this.

Uuugggghhhhh.... wasted design opportunity! Profoundly disappointing and shortsighted.

You must not have been around when palp was spoiled. People thought he was gonna be dead on arrival due to being 2 crew slots and 8 points

Maybe they have another 2 crew scum ship in the works? Just a thought :)

I didn't bother with the PGS complaint threads when palp was spoiled. All I saw was "this actually might be really good". I also remember people being allot more concerned with what the raider could do than what Palp did. He was more like icing on the cake at the time. Are you sure you were on the forums when palp was spoiled?

A lot of people (and even podcasts) were down on palp when he was spoiled, not just PGS

That's 100% true.

That's like...the one call I made on evaluating a card before it came out that I'm a pretty embarrassed by. I'm typically pretty decent with my evaluation of competitiveness and I feel historically vindicated about most of my pre-judgements, but when I saw Palp I definitely said something as dumb as "That ability is amazing but is it 2 crew slots and 8 points amazing? That's SO much....I just don't know".

Awkward.

i'd be surprised if scum doesnt get another 2crew user eventually. Both because they literally have 1 ship with more than 1 crew and now Jabba.

Jabba the Hutt, is a gigantic space slug who is much larger than a humanoid. Frankly I'd be very disappointed if he did not take 2+ crew slots.

I mean, that's fine. That's your prerogative.

I appreciate good flavor, just not if it comes at the expense of the game play. I feel like that's definitely what happened in this instance, and I'd have preferred to lose just a dash of flavor if it meant seeing the card actually hit tables. /shrug

If FFG were to add the Gauntlet to the game from rebels (which is far from certain since it's a good 10m longer than the ghost according to wookieepedia), wookiepedia lists it as having 4 crew, so it could easily have 2-4 crew slots (depending if that number includes the pilot)

It is longer than the ghost, but it wouldn't be the first time they played with scale. Considering it is a way to get a fan favorite like Maul in the game without treading into prequel territory, I think it is highly possible FFG will alter the Gauntlet's size to fit.

Mechanically, the Gauntlet is a good ship for 2 crew slots - maybe a third like the YV because it has a couple of spare chairs in the cockpit and also has that sweet crew rack down-below. Given how the U-Wing is, I'd say probably 2, then maybe an illicit. They wouldn't be hurting for pilots the ship is apparently flown well into the TFA era.

This is assuming LFL allows them to adjust the scale. With epic and the bit of a fudge on behalf of the CR90... probably? But a lot of the ship minis scale is based directly on the current canonical numbers put out by the brand.

Glitterstim+Crane= 4 pts

Jabba+GSx2= 9 pts plus two crew slots

Is it really worth it? I get that Jabba plus GSx2 is better but double the cost plus must include YV plus two slots.

Epic he's fantastic.

That is a fair point. It just seems that because of its prevalence in Rebels and the Maul connection it is a prime candidate for X-Wing inclusion. It might come in as an Epic ship, but it doesn't seem to share many features of Epic ships aside from size.

Crane doesnt work on illicits btw

Sure, but Jabba works on Crane.

So that you can just... endlessly refresh your useless Crane.

Man I was hoping for something a little more than that. In regular play you have to bring a YV and occupy most of its crew slots to hold him, and the effect is good but not amazing.

Maybe if Scum had a nother 2-crew-slot ship.

:( disappointing.

Yeah, it would have been great if he were super-powerful so people could complain he needs a nerf. TLT's got its hands full right now.

Mostly, I find his playability dorky. . .

Jabba: "Hi, Bossk? Yeah, what are you doing Friday?"

Bossk: "The usual party bus in the morning to get Fett and Zuckuss to school. Then not much. Why?"

Jabba: "I was wondering if you could pick me up? I have a appointment and the Star Jewel is in for repairs."

I never realized Bossk had a side job with Uber.

Now we just have to wait a Jumpmaster +1crew mod :P
