I mean, by that logic they'd never publish anything new or complicated because people would ask obvious and trivially-answered questions.

Yeah, glitterstim just wouldnt give it a stress and it would mod all focus. Huge ships arent denied focus modding, theyre denied focus tokens.
SLAM is large only, as is chutes so nothing of note there
Why on earth would you equip Hotshot on it?
Cloak is small only
Black Market Slicers eats its action, and huge ships cant waste that
Deadman's Switch would be comical
Dampeners wouldnt give it a stress or energy since its a standard maneuver
Feedback array would be interesting, though youre constantly cutting your power via self ioning
If Crane worked on its new dumping Cargo slots, that would be nuts, but it doesnt so meh

Unless theyre about to release a new illicit that WOULD be busted on the CROC, EMP is the worst one to find on one and even thats not that bad.

even with Wizards' R&D Magic cards are being reworded every so often, or were when I lost track of Magic a couple of years back.

At this point in MTG's life (and it's been like that for quite a lot of years now), they occasionally polish the wording of old cards, but it's to make sure even the tiniest details in those wordings are the best possible. And as someone else said, most cards keep being re-released.

I was talking of wording templates. Templates have been firmly established maybe 15 years ago, and new abilities get templated along those same lines, and templates never get broken, and they don't make mistakes anymore because of that (they make mistakes when judging power levels sometimes, but then they can just ban such cards within certain formats). To become a MTG designer or developer you have to pass some serious tests that make sure you understand all the reasons and subtleties of those templates (among a lot of other things).
