[Empire] Stridan's Strikers

By Whippoorwills, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I really like the strikers and would love a build a good list using them. I own 2 at the moment, but am planning on buying a third one.

Could this list work? Stridan is flying around giving the strikers focus with General Hux and having a target lock a striker can use for rerolls with Targeting Synchronizer. Having PS1 ships allow for some good blocking opportunities.

Stridan's strikers (100)
Major Stridan — Upsilon-class Shuttle 32
Fire-Control System 2
General Hux 5
Targeting Synchronizer 3
Tactical Jammer 1
Ship Total: 43

Imperial Trainee — TIE Striker 17
Lightweight Frame 2
Adaptive Ailerons 0
Ship Total: 19

If you can contrive some way to fit it in I'd want a Systems Officer in there as well. Having one of the strikers able to use its TL independently would be really useful.

Or maybe Weapons Engineer...

I flew a three TIE list Saturday where I was using Stidan, Hux, and Systems Officer to pass out target locks and focus. The problem I had with the Upsilon was that if anything got behind it, the shuttle was in dire trouble. If you where concentrating fire on something else and let anything get behind it, that 1 die agility isn't going to help much. But I had never flown it before that day, so it could have been how I was flying it. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe drop a lightwave frame on one of the Strikers for a Systems officer then? It'll burn faster but I hope the overall damage output will be better.

Use that as your blocker/fodder ship, sacrificed to the dice Gods so your other ships may have reliability built in.

I don't think "Targeting Synchronizer" is just for regular target locks. You can drop that & use Systems Officer to give out a target lock.

Maybe something like this:

Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Fleet Officer (3)
Systems Officer (2)
Experimental Interface (3)
Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)

Imperial Trainee (17)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Imperial Trainee (17)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Imperial Trainee (17)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Total: 100

It works for regular locks as per the latest FAQ.

Oh wow, I searched the FAQ for " Targeting Synchronizer" and got no results & only found "game effect' forum results. I guess I'll page through the FAQ.

Any quotes or wording from FAQ that show it does it? I'm not seeing it in the FAQ.

I'm almost certain that Targeting Syncronizer is only for game effects requiring you to spend a target lock to use them. Like torpedoes, missiles, or even Omega Leaders ability.

Latest FAQ confirms that spending to reroll qualified as a game effect.

Excellent! Makes it much better.

Found the quote:

"Q: What are examples of game effects that instruct a player to spend a target lock? A: The cost for a secondary weapon such as Proton Torpedoes, using pilot abilities like Lieutenant Colzet, or spending a target lock during the "Modify Attack Dice" step to reroll attack dice are all examples of spending a target lock. Removing a target lock or assigning a blue target lock token to another ship are not examples of spending a target lock."

Although this really only clarifies "spending" and does nothing to speak to " Attack: [Target Lock] " header which is no-where for re-rolls. But general consensus seems to be that means it does regular target lock re-rolls.
