169 points...... ok well i guess i will be playing skirmish games until we get a hold of expansions. i dont think i will be buying a 3rd core set.

Let's see about 200 points of Waiqar with two core sets

Ardus (37) with Ancient Technique (2) and Reaping Blade (4) - 43

Reanimates 2x2 (26) with War Crier* (5), Terrifying Heraldry (5) and Trumpets (2) - 38

Reanimates 2x2 (26) with War Crier (5), Terrifying Heraldry (5) and Trumpets (2) - 38

Reanimate Archers 2x1 (18) with Rank Discipline (4) - 24

Reanimate Archers 2x1 (18) with Rank Discipline (4) - 24

Carrion Lancer 2x1 (27) with Master Crafted Weapons (4) - 31

Total 198!

Note : This is someone opening 2 core sets and not sharing their upgrades. Truly evil!!!!

*-for the Waiqar v Waiqar fights

Let's do Daqan with two core sets

Kari(32) with Hearthseeker (10) and Wraithstep (1) - 43

Spearmen 3x2 (40) with War Crier(5), Shield Wall (5), Terrifying Heraldry (5), and Trumpets (2) - 57

Spearmen 2x1 (18) with Master Crafted Weapons (4) - 22

Oathsworn Cavalry 2x2 (34) with Shield Wall (5) and Terrifying Heraldry (5) - 44

Rune Golems 1x1 (17) - 17

Rune Golems 1x1 (17) - 17

Total 200!

Note: We don't know how much Latari Training costs so it might replace Wraithstep

latari training is 6 points. nice job on the 2 lists. but i still think i may stick with 100 point skirmish rules give people some options.

what i think is interesting is that you can use more than 2 unique heroes, as long as you use anything more than 2 as upgrades for units lol

The lists are just quickly made up to see if I could get to 200 points with 2 core sets. They could be tweaked!

Pending on how the new heroes go (Hawthrone and Maro), they might see play in a number of lists with Kari/Ardus.

not as easy as you might think. i dont really know what you could change. with 2 cores if you combine into larger units you lose points.

Is this right? There should be only 8 trays with two cores no? (for upgrades a 6 tray still counts as a 9 thanks to Ardus)

The carrion lancer adds the ninth tray.

Oh... ok so you don't have to have the correct amount of trays to add the upgrade as long as the upgrade gets you to that amount of trays... cool.

yeah you have 9 trays then remove one and add the lancer so there are still 9 trays, 8 reanimates and 1 lancer.

Neat. I was thinking too literally! Not having enough actual trays is not going to be a problem if one's going to be replaced anyway lol

I could potentially switch some units around in size (i.e. the two golems in one unit) or shift some of the upgrades. Ardus' passive gives much more leeway and flexibility when making lists too.

if you combine the units together, you will be losing point value getting further away from the 200 point mark.

I plan on having a split core set, running Waiqar. Might plan on getting the expansions, but unsure which ones. Is there a consensus yet as to what expansions to get for undead?

With some units, sure. In my list, I could combine the archers which would go from 48 for two to 36 (or upwards of 44 with upgrades) for a single unit. However, it leaves open that second Rank Discipline for the Carrion Lancer unit for a net of 0.

You could combine all of them and really try to shave points, but I'll leave that up to the individual player.

I haven't seen any sort of consensus on here, in part because we really don't know what's in all the packs. However, I think the Infantry Command expansions look really good. These expansions have a large amount of faction-specific cards (based on the color of the card backs shown in the news article). I think about 2/3 of the cards in those expansions are faction-specific.

The other expansions that look like must-haves are the new heroes because they each come with a new deployment option, a new objective, and a new terrain. Each one comes with a different deployment card, objective, and terrain.

agree. then experiment around, find out what you want more of and get more of it. all the expansions announced so far (except the new heroes) just add more of whats in the core (with more upgrade options)
