Han solo side mission - Sorry about the mess

By VAYASAN, in Imperial Assault Campaign

When the Door is opened, it says you increase the Threat by the current threat level and you can use an optional deployment.

Does that mean :

A- Increase the threat by the current threat showing on the threat meter

B- Increase it by the threat level of the mission?

I wasnt sure...we used the threat on the dial...but I actually think it should be the missions threat level rating? If it meant the current threat level on the dial it would have used the little icon?

Threat Level used for the mission is specified in the campaign log.

Threat symbol is the amount of threat in the threat dial.

(It's always B. There are no missions that would increase threat by threat, it is always increased by the Threat Level or multiples of Threat Level. And I think threat always uses the threat symbol, and Threat Level is always spelled in full. Differentiating Threat and Threat Level is one of the most often occurring issues people have - seems native English speakers are a little more prone to overlook the difference than the non-native speakers.)

Just for future FYI: There's not a single campaign mission in all expansions/packs ever released that goes with option A, i.e. "double your threat"

It's always option B, and refer to the campaign log to find "threat level"

I think it's because of our propensity to use words for multiple, often only subtly different, meanings :)

FFG could have avoided the ambiguity by changing "Threat Level" to "Threat Rate" which would have made things much clearer. As it is right now, it effectively comes down to capitalisation, in that "Threat level" is a valid way to query the current measure of threat, while "Threat Level" is a configuration value for the mission. "Threat Rate" would remove (ore reduce, at least) the chance of confusion.

Nah, the amount of threat is always the symbol threat. You just translated that wrong. Use threat count when you want to refer to the number currently on the threat counter. :D

Yep thanks all.

I suspected it was the threat Level (and not current threat). As above, its not made easy for new players imo by wording /naming things like this.

I think that's due to their use of the word 'level'. Level easily indicates a current 'amount'. You could predict a newcomer who hadn't read the rules would assume if asked for a threat level, he'd look at his dial and give that number... Maybe if they'd chosen a word like 'Threat Condition' or 'Threat Allowance' for the mission threat level, this wouldn't be as confusing?

Just spit-balling...

or just added wording above the pair of number on the dial. "Threat Amount" & "Current Round"
