IG-88 + Focused on the Kill -- A Thank You

By HoodieDM, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Let me first say, FFG thank you for listening and fixing to what I hope is the first of many "older" IA figures. I have proxied the new Skirmish Upgrade for IG-88 and I must say, that is the first time in a long time that I had so much fun playing not only Imperial Assault Skirmish again, but a Hunter deck that was themed around actual Bounty Hunters. It was just some fun games but my list was simple:

Jabba the Hutt (6)

Vinto w/Prey on the Weak (6)

Bossk (8)

IG-88 w/Focused on the Kill (12)

Greedo (4)

Temp Alliance (1)

Gideon Argus (3)

This list was fun, entertaining, had a blast, and not only that, my opponent underestimated the new IG-88 and with this revamp, I was murdering guys left and right Game 1. Game 2 was much closer and due to some bad plays on my behalf (a little rusty) and crappy rolls, but still competitive and fun none the less.

Kudos FFG. I hope you do more. I cannot wait to see what you do with Vader, Fett, and Solo!!!

Yeah I've played with the new IG88 briefly and he was a lot of fun! I think I lost but it was a blast. He puts so much pressure on the opponent, especially with Jabba's ordered strike. Can't wait to see the changes to all the iconic figures roll out (hopefully in the next wave).

Pretty sure I was the opponent. Kentucky is the place for all the hot Thursday night IA action!

And yeah, IG-88 w/ the new upgrade is awesome. He was a serious threat in both matches. If @HoodieDM had proxied the must-have Hunter cards (Assassinate, Heightened Reflexes, Tools for the Job), he would have probably tipped the scales in the 2nd game and won.

We played Blue Oyster Bar Anchorhead Cantina with the patrons scenario both times. I was running the following Imperial List:

  • The Grand Inquisitor
  • Dewback Rider
  • Dewback Rider
  • Temporary Alliance
  • Elite Weequay Pirate
  • Elite Weequay Pirate
  • Regular Jet Troopers
  • Zillo Technique

I ended up putting six 0-cost command cards in my deck so that I would have a decent chance of having something to toss for Zillo. In that 2nd game, I was able to get one Dewback at the far-corner terminal and also was able to snag the the middle terminal... and I was able to use Grenader and Assassinate on IG-88.

I'm still experimenting with this list -- I'm sure it's not going to be super-competitive since the Grand Inquisitor's attacks can be pretty spotty sometimes -- but it lives and dies with drawing cards and playing conservatively in the 1st round (which conflict with each other sometimes).

Hey cnemmick,

Yep to the first question! LoL

Yeah tons of fun. Have you thought about running Cpt Terro + Imp Officer > TGI??

I think I would run Cpt Terro + Imp officer if I wanted to move away from the Hunter theme -- which honestly probably would be better synergy with the Imperials. I've seen Terro + 2 Dewback lists work pretty well.

Here's what I'm messing with now . I specifically left it at 39 points so I can force initiative on opponents. I just don't think I'll get enough cards to power the Hunters + protect with Zillo if I don't cap both terminals.

Getting this convo back to IG-88, I'm starting to wonder if running IG-88 + Focused on the Kill + Jabba should also have First Strike (+4VP for each player at start of the game). That basically makes IG-88 get 3 attacks potentially on rounds 2 & 3.
