How do you Pelta?

By Hawkwing, in Star Wars: Armada

I'd say that what makes the AFMkII better is the ability to take ECMs. Straight up. There is nothing that can one-shot an AF with ECM, possibly even with a double arc, but the Pelta can easily be one-shot by plenty of suped up ships.

What makes the Pelta awesome is the ability to take 2 officer upgrades with the title. You get so much utility out of that, combined with the fleet support upgrades.

Edit: take that back. The Avenger could potentially one-shot an AF, but that requires very precise setup.

besides Raymus/Asoka, what good combos are there with officers?

Raymus/Adar Tallon

Adar Tallon/Toryn Farr

Adar Tallon/Asoka Tano

Veteran Captain/Asoka Tano

Raymus/Flight Commander

Well Ashoka can go on a different ship to free up another slot to go with Raymus. So Raymus plus anything. Or skilled first officer plus anything (insurance against slicer tools). If you're taking a carrier, then flight commander plus anything.

Personally, I use flight commander and Adar Talon (carrier), or Raymus. With flight commander and FCTs, you can really improve the effectiveness of those Bs and AFFM. And then with Raymus, you also get

Adar Talon/Flight Commander with Fighter Coordination Teams. Move, move your slow squads up, activate skirmishers like Wedge Antilles or fast interceptors like A-Wings or E-Wings, and reset your most dangerous squad. Works amazing in combination with Yavaris.

I won Dublin's regional with a Pelta ship with "all fighter follow me" in an heavy squadron build. My conclusion was that if you have rapid launch bay you don't really need the speed boost granted by "all fighter follow me" , and if you're not using the command upgrade then their is just no point of taking the pelta class at all. Now I use an assault Frigate with gallant heaven and rapid launch bay and it does so much more for only 15 more points.

The only asset of the Pelta class are the command upgardes but those are just too weak to justify taking this ship. FGG could make it competitive in the future by printing stronger command cards , hopefully they will.

What do you do about the other 3 ships in your opponent's list after you've delivered your speed 2 Bs?

Might give this list a go, although it's pretty squishy...

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 400/400

Commander: General Rieekan

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Fighter Ambush
Navigation Objective: Solar Corona

Assault Frigate Mark II B (72 points)
- Adar Tallon ( 10 points)
- Flight Controllers ( 6 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
= 100 total ship cost

Modified Pelta-class Command Ship (60 points)
- Phoenix Home ( 3 points)
- Ahsoka Tano ( 2 points)
- Raymus Antilles ( 7 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- All Fighters, Follow Me! ( 5 points)
= 89 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bright Hope ( 2 points)
- Toryn Farr ( 7 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 35 total ship cost

[ flagship ] GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- General Rieekan ( 30 points)
- Quantum Storm ( 1 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 51 total ship cost

1 Gold Squadron ( 12 points)
1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)
1 Norra Wexley ( 17 points)
1 Y-Wing Squadron ( 10 points)
1 Luke Skywalker ( 20 points)
1 Biggs Darklighter ( 19 points)
1 HWK-290 ( 12 points)
1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)

Well if I blown up the biggest enemy ship they already done their job. This is what happened in practice, I basically never used to fighter follow me. :)

I used mine in combo with two assault frigates and a gr75 with sato and ALOT of a-wings...basically it was there to push commands and throw black dice at range with sato.

I run a double Pelta yavaris list lately which is nasty. Both Peltas have FCT and expanded hangars (1 with flight commander) so they manage to push 4 bwings combined distance 4 then can activate them to hit guys on turn 1 if positioned right. Yes they are squishy but they can be very effective if you play to their strengths. I've also used an assault Pelta with Raymus Antilles, advanced projectors, shields to max and expanded launchers in a support/follow up role. Worked fairly effectively as well.

Wait... does double AFFM mean +2 speed for fighters? Speed 5 X-Wings....

Aren't all the fleet command upgrades unique?

They are unique.

I meant double fct which moves squadrons one each, so that's 2, then add in the 2 normal range, 3 if you count AFFM for Bwings.
