So, at my LGS, talk between us about the Upsilon and how FCS was difficult to keep same target in arc brought up this build:
Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Collision Detector (0)
Recon Specialist (3)
Weapons Guidance (2)
35pts for a 74% chance to roll 4 hits, 95% chance to roll 3+ hits. Wow! This does not require FCS, so can be fired at anybody who lands in front of you, and effective on first engagement!
We can break each upgrade down:
Naked 4 dice = 6.25% for 4 hits
w/ focus = 32%
w/ focus + TL = 77%
w/ focus + WG = 44%
w/ double focus + WG = 74%
Inspired by pt106's squad "Kylo Bren Special"I have been looking for ways to incorporate Target Synchronizer into a squad. Did the math (well, Xwing Calculator did) on Ups above if it also had a TL to use.
w/ double focus + WG + TL = 98%
Then I was thinking, what if I go against a RAC Kylo shenanigans. I can't afford to have Ups not attack with 4 rolled hits practically guaranteed. So, I upgraded to Kylo + Determination.
So here is the squad:
Big Bang Theory
Kylo Ren (34)
Determination (1)
Collision Detector (0)
Recon Specialist (3)
Inspiring Recruit (1)
Weapons Guidance (2)
"Backdraft" (27)
Adaptability (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)
"Pure Sabacc" (22)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Total: 100

So, I go to Kylo shuttle with Determination and Inspire recruit, 2pts to counter Kylo and Stresshog.
Backdraft helps gets Kylos ability off, might as well take advantage since I spent points on Kylo. Adaptability on Backdraft so he can fire first in the squad.
Sabaac turns up the heat! Imagine what Sabaac can do with a TL and focus. Opponent can go after Ups or Sabaac, but one big gun is gonna get ya full modded!
Remember, its 74% chance for 4 hits without the TL, so Ups only has to use the Synch one in four attacks, if it even gets 4 attacks. So backdraft should have his TL for 3 of his 4 attacks unless Sabaac needs it, in which case, another 4/5 dice full modded is totally worth it.
I have thought of bumps, and worse case is you still get to use the Target Lock, same as just having FCS, but backdraft gets to choose the target.
There are other variations of the squad with Quickdraw and OL and Backdraft and OL
Which do you think is better? I will be testing this out at next game night. Or do you have recommendations of ways to improve Big Bang Theory?
