AwesomeJedi's Awesome Cards

By AwesomeJedi, in X-Wing

I absolutely enjoy making custom cards! I have a link below with all my creations.

If you have any feedback, please give it! I appreciate it.

But if you do, please suggest what you would do instead. Don't just whine.

Thank you to anyone who inspired my cards.

I like most of them, not overpowered. Only one that is overpowered is Linked Targeting System. Adding a hit 87.5% of the time for only two points is crazy. It makes all 3 attack ships phantom like offensive power. Could you imagine Vessery with Swarm Leader and this card? He could one shot 6 or 7 hp ships. Striker Trainees at 19pts dont even need LWF, when they are getting 3 hits consistently with just a focus.

Finn adds a blank die after rolling for 5 points. Fearlessness is 1pt and requires both ships to be in arc at range 1. This would need to be like 8pts with the only restriction be natural hit or crit result.

TIE Phantoms have attack value of "4" not "3". The card says "You can only equip this card if you have an attack of '3'." It doesn't say "You can only equip this card if you have an attack of '3' or higher."

My point was, you are making 3 attack ships basically 4 attack ships with this card for only 2pts, equalling the Phantoms power.

T-65B: an evade token if you have an enemy in arc at range 1-3 for 1 point? The same cost as a concard dawn protector, but a lot easier to use. No, just no. Coupled with rebel regen, this would be even harder to kill than a pre-nerf tie defender.

I know, I'm trying to find out how to fix that...

At least it's not a reinforce token.

From feedback about Linked Targeting System, I have come up with this:

bh81Cg

I changed the name because this makes sense more thematically. How is it?

You sir, have come to the wrong place if you expect anonymous people to comply with such decency and respect :)

I like a lot of your cards, hopefully FFG are watching and can get some ideas.

Thanks!

About the T-65B X-wing title:

Should I make it similar to the TIE/x7 and make it say: "At the start of the Combat Phase, if there is an enemy ship in our firing arc at Range 1-3, if are not overlapping an obstacle or ship, you may perform a free evade action." ?

Would this be better?

The problem with trying to balance things is, in the SW Universe, the Defender was the best superiority fighter going about. You shouldn't make an old T 65 similar to a Defender, this is all shown in the points of the ship. Instead of making them similar in abilities, I think you should try and make the X Wing cheaper to represent the superiority of numbers. Is what the Empire did with Ye Olde Academy Pilot, just FFG overpriced the T65.

C1 definitely needs to cost something if it can go on TLT Y Wings. Preferably 2 points, as it shouldn't be possible to equip four of them with TLTs...

If you're going to make a 0 cost astromech is should either do nothing at all and exist solely to jettison with IA, or it should do something cool and very rare like Trick Shot, or something with a benefit and a penalty like A Score To Settle.

My personal idea for one was Incessantly Beeping Astromech: 0 points. All ships at range 1 must treat all [eye] results as blank results. Heavy penalty to itself, heavy penalty to rolling it in formation with anything, but also heavy penalty for its enemies... mostly. Can save a tokenless Autothruster ship a point of damage, for instance, or save a Cloaking Device from dropping off a Scum ship, etc.

Thanks for your work. +1

I have made an update with nerfs and new cards! Introducing Antoc Merrick and fellow squadmate Vangos Grek! Grek has to cards because I don't know if he would be broken with an EPT. Merrick's ability reflects his unwillingness to let his allies get hurt. Also, T-65B now has a range restriction, and C1 Astromech is now 2 points.

Anyone have feedback?

Updated.

New card: Strike Fighter.

This card was designed to replace Modular Design and make torps cheaper.

Updated Vangos Grek with a new ability. What do you guys think of it?

How would he interact with Opportunist?

I still think the linked targeting system is too strong for 2 points. Adding an extra hit if you roll an "unmodified hit or crit" is very powerful. Especially if there is no other range restriction, or enemy arc restriction etc.

Changing the firing configurations on a x wing shouldn't increase its raw firepower, but rather increase its consistency in my opinion.

I would change it to something like this:

When attacking, you may cancel one dice result. If you do you may add a "hit" result to your roll.

So you still get 3 dice primary overall, but you can cancel blanks or eyeballs and add hits. You get a much more consistent offense and can potentially save focus tokens for defense.

I think this fits better for a 2 point cost card upgrade.

Thank you Isophane, that is a good idea!
