[Blog] - Two-Ship Build Guide

Another solid writeup! This community is getting better with your tactical analysis and imput :D

I think that K wings (mainly Miranda) are an amazing wingmate in a 2 ship list. I would rate them much higher than A wings, even though A wings are my favorite rebel ship. This is mainly because of the ability to deal damage while regenerating, which few other ships in the game can do. K wings also satisfy the other two categories of Firing Arcs and Maneuverability. In that same vein, I think that a subset of dice modification should be damage mitigation. There is a reason things like R2D2 (crew and astromech), C3P0, Gonk, and Latts Razzi are so popular. In a 2 ship list, every single hit point is crucial, and as you noted, getting 1/2 points for ships is something your opponent will be fighting for. If you can take that away from them by regenerating your health or minimizing the damage you take, you are one step closer to victory!

Hahaha! You're too kind. I can't believe I didn't mention K-wings in the ship lists. That's outrageous. I shall correct that right away!

Great words of wisdom Gersun, thank you for your comments. :)

360 degree firing arcs don't exist. Turrets that can fire outside their arcs do. The distinction is meaningful.

That being said, this is an interesting and perspicacious write-up. But I think there's a conspicuous omission from it regarding the current meta: Kylo Ren. A two-ship list in a meta that has a decent chance of encountering Kylo crew HAS to have an answer to 'how do I avoid my lowest-agility ship being blinded before it can fire two rounds in a row then killed before it can fire the third round?'

Ketsu Bossk for instance doesn't usually have a good answer for that, but giving Bossk Determination can make it a lot more resilient to Kylo, and Bossk's EPT in my experience has often been a bit of an afterthought. To the point where I outright forgot to equip one for several matches and didn't really suffer much for it XD

I agree completely here. Kylo is not really around that much, but is common enough to be a litmus test for a new squad. If you cannot deal with him, you're always going to be playing the luck of the draw in a tournament. Maybe leebo with determination will make a comeback, lol. I think a lot about squadbuilding, and how to craft an 'all-comers' list, and this is one of the checks I give any new squad that I think about seriously. There are a lot of others, like having something to hurt token'd up aces, turrets, and the top pilots in the meta, but I can see how that would be a bit exhausting to write about.
