Fighter Squadrons II: What do you think?

By rhanzon, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

What do you all think of the Fighter Squadrons II packs (both factions)? The new cards from CC seem to have stolen the show in my area, but I have played against some of the new Imperial Squadrons.

On the Imperial side, I've been pretty impressed. Apart from the TIE Phantoms (I haven't played them yet, but they seem a little lackluster), they are some nice additions. TIE Defenders and Decimators both hit like trucks and can take quite a beating. The Lambda-class shuttle is really handy, especially for keeping your flotillas away from the fight (though the Centicore title on the Arquitens does the same thing for a lot less now), and Colonel Jendon's ability essentially gives 1 squad a Yavaris-like double tap

On the Rebel side, I'm not sure what to think—but I haven't played with or against any of them yet. Honestly though, they don't look too impressive except for the E-Wing's snipe ability. I'm not even sure I'll bother buying them.

What do you all think?

EWings: STILL haven't used any of them ?

Z95s: Only one use of 4 of them. meh, but certainly not a definitive dismissal

Lancers: Nice, but fragile. Ketsu is awesome.

VCX-100: Hera, still haven't used.

The generic? HOLY **** THEY ARE AWESOME!

E-wings? F-ing brilliant, I fully consider them to be a massive upgrade to Xs with faster speed and snipe 3

Z-95s? Good in large numbers or to fill out a squadron list

Lancers? I use when I can, but fragile

VCX-100? Relay is insane and Hera while expensive can be worth it depending on the opponent

E-Wings are really solid. I haven't gotten to run my E-Wings yet but going against them is a huge pain.

Lancers, in my limited use were very flexible and rather fun. I was able to hide them behind a Dust Cloud though, so I had solid ability to keep them survivable until the late-game where they got to harass ships.

Defenders, I stand by as excellent all-around ships. Not great at anything, but passable at everything (except escorting, they kinda suck at that what with not having escort) Ultimately they're just nasty against other squadrons. I like to run a handful with a FC carrier and Interceptors and just crush enemy squad balls.

Marrek Steele is just a monster, end of story.

Lamdas are super fun. Great utility ship. I have created an objectives-focused list and they are just dirty on Fire Lanes. Also flotillas being able to just fly into a corner and hide is pretty excellent.

Hera was pretty fun in the game I played her, but my positioning was really garbage so her escorts didn't always get to stay in range where I needed them.

This is great feedback. Thanks!
