Adepticon
ohhhhh now i really wish i could go. do you have a link?
Apparently they were put in the swag bags.
Classy move, FFG.
This game is going to sink or swim on people actually getting hands on with it, and I think they know it.
Reminds me of when they gave everyone at Worlds a free copy of Star Wars LCG.
Just picked one up from someone who already had their copy on EBay for barely over selling price. Woohoo!
That's ridiculous! Now I know why the release was delayed. They're giving it away!!!
.......i'm so jealous.
If any of you are at Adepticon and got a copy and want to learn how to play, come find me. You can't miss me, I'll be the giant behind the runewars table.
So... why release date is 13th of April O_o
FFG's ship from china has a crap dial... a red one, and a green zero. (Ask your xwing friends)
Kinda wish I had even known about Adepticon.
Swag bags only for Premium badges, aka 1200 attendees. I skipped out on getting it because I didn't think it'd be worth the cost.
Well, I know I was wrong. lol At least I've already reordered everything.

I like how this year people were given the option to not get the swag bag, buy has someonewho been to last 8 Adepticon, the bag is always worth it. Heck, I wanted to get the VIG swag, but sold out.
Absolutely! We aren't talking Gencon "swag bags" here. In my experience there has been one or more items that easily pay for registration.
With this news I am in a dilemma, do I order one on Ebay for my 3rd core set or do I patiently wait for my 2 on the 13th...

Getting approx. 1200 boxes to a single location is significantly easier than shipping the entire product line to locations around the world, though I wasn't aware of the game being delayed at all?

This happens a lot with FFG. They often have ships available at GenCon, for example, weeks before you can buy them in the store. I think it's absolutely worth waiting. First off, there aren't that many people that are going to be ahead of you in experience and knowledge about the game, and within a couple weeks of having them game in April, you'll surely catch up with them.
Also, my philosophy is that if I'm playing at a game store, I'm going to buy my product from that store. I'm not going to put money in someone's pocket when I could put that money toward my FLGS. If you're playing at home, though, this could be worth it for you.
Finally, I don't like rewarding this attitude of taking something for free and trying to turn a profit from it. FFG put these early copies out to generate excitement and try to get people to play who may not otherwise have bought a copy. When these people turn around and sell copies, it has two effects: 1) FFG doesn't reach those people they were hoping to entice with a free copy because those people never open the game and play it, and 2) people who are interested in the game now put money into a non-retailer's pocket, which doesn't support the company because it's not going through the FLGS-Distributor-Company channel.
I just sat lazily and the auction expired, I'm not disappointed...Oh I wan't going to NOT get my 2 from my FLGS which is already cutting me a good deal since I'm driving the community, going to be running the events, and building a table for the store.
So, they probably flew in a bunch of copies for the Adepticon people, which costs a lot more than shipping them on the slow boat from China. They do something very similar for GenCon releases etc. Nothing to get worked up about, although, I'm excited to see if there will be a lot more reviews coming soon!

Probably, this is what they do for their pre-release kits for destiny also
I must say that I feel a little cheated: I have paid for my boxes a month ago and I still don't even know when I will get them; and at the same time a bunch of random people are going to get one for free right now.
How is that fair? I understand the need to promote the game, I would greatly appreciate if it was not done at the fans' expense in a very unfair way. It would help if at least at had a confirmed release date, or if anybody could get a chance in that draw.
Don't get me wrong, I wish all the best to the lucky people who got a free box, but the way that was done (and the timing) leaves me feeling cheated and used

Well, too bad. It's not about you or me, it's about growing the game and getting big buzz over it. It's going to greatly increase the odds of the games long term health that a few people got it a few weeks before the rest. It's now going to be played openly during one of the bigger US gaming conventions

there is a confirmed release date, they announced it at GAMA last week, it's April 13th.
Hey jek was it hard to convince your store to support the game?, how are you planning on bringing in players beyond demo games? I would like to generate the same attention in my area
@sludrick Hmm, My friend and I are very active and well known by our FLGS's owner and community, we regularly talking about the news and updates, have made the store owner very excited for the game. My friend made a local Runewars facebook group where we regularly share news and event info. And finally just excitedly talk about the game, we have a few Imperial Assault and X-wing players interested due to similar mechanics. Aside from that just demo the crap out of it once it releases, and tell kids it is the table top version of starcraft...That is the easiest way I explain this type of game to people that have never played a miniature game, it plays like an RTS on a table since...that is what it is...My hope is that this will get a lot of new players into the table top hobby and I'm just trying to make it appear as approachable as possible...Talk to your FLGS owner about hosting some type of hobby focused event. I'm hoping that the Escalation event can be turned into a solid league structure since Escalation leagues are really good at building new player bases. If the event doesn't really work for a league, I'm going to work on making one and I think @Tvayumat is going to be collaborating on that since we are both trying to do the same thing. If you want join the Central Florida Runewars Facebook group and you can find me there to talk more about this...

1) Not actually free. Need a different pass type to get one.
2) It comes out April 13th. We have known that for a bit now.
