Are there any viable uses for the Lambda shuttle without Palpatine in competitive play? Can the Doom Shuttle still be competitive?
Lambda Shuttle without Palpatine?
I think Doom Shuttle has been somewhat supplanted by Decivader. More expensive but a lot more flexible and powerful with the PWT.
For cheap crew, the Tie Shuttle is probably better. For Gunner/Vader abuse, the Decimator is better. For crew system combos, the UPS is better and can manage a 90-degree turn without Stress.
The Lambda's key asset is that it is the cheapest Palpmobile in the game. Without Palp it is hard to find any role that cannot be done better/cheaper by another ship.

I disagree - the UPS dial is a lot harder to utilise Advanced Sensors+Fleet Officer/General Hux with than the Lambda.
The Upsilon dial requires careful planning, but it is capable of staying the fight after the first pass. The Lambda can't do that.
I think the Lambda fills a niche between the Upsilon and the TIE shuttle. There are still Lambda builds that can function in spite of the worst dial in the game. I have a list with Kagi, Karnor and Omega Leader that can really shut down a lot of other squads. I've flown variants of it with and without Palp.

The dial, the dial, the dial... with self bumps you can get a lot of mileage out of it with practice. Heck, I still pull out a FCS+ gunner + EU lambda just to terrorize people with. Your opponents will never forget the first time they get outflanked by a lambda or the lambda getting behind them! When I fly lambda around here it's always the "must kill" ship.
