Is the Invasion over?

By darklove, in Warhammer Invasion Community

Is FFG discontinuing Warhammer: Invasion? It seems as if none of the products in this line are available to buy anywhere, all either out of stock or simply not available.

Any word on this?

It seems more, that they are selling too well.

they would not be cancelling it, they are still announcing new expansions.

If they are selling so well then why are we not getting more information on product availability? It is very poor planning and comms work.

If you check the "Upcoming" section of this homepage, you could see a couple of expansions coming, and also a reprint for the Core Set.

The Invasion is going well I think. :)

Not sure what info you are missing but there is lots of product announcements up. The next BP comes out next week.

the Invasion is going better than planned...

Where are you looking for info? The product pages here are full of announcements, I've seen them on a few web sites when I do price checks with estimated dates for expansion releases. If you were looking for stuff here on the boards they don't announce much of anything here as a general rule. IOW this is our playground, built for us, with minor maintenance and upkeep by them (or actually there hired hands I suspect).

I am looking for release dates of the core set and the first few update packs.

The core set is no longer on sale in the UK.

The core set is no longer on sale from FFG, with no dates for when it is going to be in stock.

What am I to assume from this? In general it is very unusual for a business to run out of stock on a popular item for a prolonged period of time like this, without at least being able to state the date when new stock will be available. Fair enough that they were surprised by the level of demand, but you expect that they know their own supply chain well enough to be able to give more information to customers, and specific dates.

I think i read under the upcoming page that they are creating a reprint of the core set. So maybe just wai to see when that comes out, that should solve your worries.

And if it is a reprint it may solve this 'size difference' in cards that everyone is complaining about.

Well, FFG rarely gives out release dates for anything. This is a company policy for years. And generally, their idea of a release date is "next week" or "in a few weeks."

Currently, there are still some distributors in America that have the game. Unlike other game companies which often will not begin a reprint if any distributors still have copies of the game, FFG is undoubtably already in the process of getting a new printing out on the market. Warhammer has exceeded their sales expectations, and they realize that the game cannot grow without the base game available. Even at my store, with the current status of availablity, we have stopped doing demos of the game so people don't give up waiting for the next print run.

When should we expect it you seem to feel that FFG should give us a firm date, now. That is not going to happen. FFG doesn't work that way. They may be trying to get their printer to run it ASAP, but there are several snags in this situation: does the printer also print games for other companies? what other FFG products are they willing to delay in order to get out a new printing? If they wait for an opening in the schedule, how long will turn around time be?

When WizKids first introduced their Pirates game back in 2004, it sold out almost overnight, and it was months before a new printing came out. That lead to a loss of players. I'm sure FFG wants to sell this game to as many people as possible; otherwise, why even go into the gaming business? But don't expect them to everything else just for this one game. Game of Thrones and Call of Cthulhu players are currently waiting on their reprints of the base game, which last I checked were both "At the Printer." I would be surprised if a new printing isn't available in 3 months or so and yes, I realize that is a long time to wait for a new player. But it is probably the most reasonable time table to expect. If FFG has something to announce about the date or timeline of a new printing, they will announce it.

This may turn you of from the game, and that is your right. But Invasion has been one of the best card games living or collectible that I have seen in some time, and I fully expect this game to be around for years to come. That fact that there are still people like yourselves who want to get into it is proof of its appeal, and from what I am seeing of the current players, none of them show any signs of quitting.
