The way I see it, Andromeda is like a steak dinner.

Now, in almost all cases, steak is going to be better than a fast food hamburger. You'd really have to turn it into charcoal for it to be otherwise. But steak SHOULD be better than that fast food hamburger because you're paying a lot more for it.

Andromeda is a poorly cooked steak being served under the normal prime rib prices. It's not a BAD game unto itself, but it isn't worth the AAA label that it got or the price that went along with it.

It is good, just not good enough to warrant a Mass Effect label, imho.

The bad:

Multiplayer is copy pasta'd from ME3

Random loot boxes and "pay to win" / microtransactions that EA are so fond of. Why hide cool classes / gear behind a random number generator / paywall? Yuck!

A (free) app that lets you generate resources while you are away from the game. But whyyy?

The story is cliché, with a few moments of greatness

The glitches are still there, though it has become a lot better (see below)

The game on PC is poorly optimized. They claim that it isn't, but it still feels like a shoddy port - straight from console (I blame the Frostbite engine, as it can be a pita to work with)

The inventory interface, both in Single and Multiplayer is poorly designed, so, many, clicks... just to swap a weapon and configure 1-2 mods for it?! (the mods drop randomly too btw)

The dialogue system is atrocious, think Fallout 4 level of atrocious

The good:

Post-patch, there are still graphical glitches and animations, just not at the level it was at, at launch. I consider the patch a vast improvement.

Graphics are on par with a 2015+ AAA title, the first planet in particular

The Sound design is OK

The Voice acting ranges from OK/to Good

The Soundtrack is really good

I'm nearing the end of the game (Xbox one version) and post patch I'm still getting gameplay issues. A boss fight that won't start, a quest that won't complete, talking to an NPC who is missing from the game (even the sound and subtitles are missing).

When it's good it's really good but when it's bad it stinks.
