So there's this Dengar I gotta kill.

By tsuruki, in X-Wing

In a series we're playing at my LGS Im getting matched up against "Fenngar". A super kitted dengar (not quite sure what he's got really but I think there's a Predator or Expertise in there) + a PTL fenn.

Do you have any advice for target priority against such a list?

Depends on your list. What is your list?

But ideally, Fenn is the squishier, so probably kill Fenn first.

And don't shoot Dengar when you're in his arc unless you have a VERY good shot and feel VERY confident you will win the trade.

Can't emphasis this enough. Letting dengar double tap you is going to almost never be the right choice. If you only have 2 ships that's just unfortunately not great against dengar since he preys upon lists who can't afford to not shoot him.

I imagine the Fenngar player will play cagey with Fenn. He'll probably want you to chase Fenn and then Fenn will zip away from you while Dengar comes in at your flank. Therefore, keep your attack lanes open. When you're in the planning phase, make sure that the maneuvers you select will give you multiple options of where to go the following turn. Keep him guessing so that he doesn't know if/when you'll close in on Fenn.

Yeah. You could take a look at the match Paul Heaver played in the recent opens systems final vs Fenn and two Jumps. Just imagine the two jumps are dengar... He did pretty much what Budgernaut proposes, keeping his lines open early and at round 3 or something he turned his list over a rock to set up an exchange with Fenn for the followng round. It was unexpected and turned out to be very effective.

You could also bring something that causes stress, neither expertise Dengar and ptl Fenn will like that...
