In an attempt to limit the strike range of admo and foresight i chose Irish madcats fire lanes to force him to have to stick reasonably close to the objective tokens or limit the range of his relay. The plan was working to a point, both ships having to maintain tight formation to deny ozzels fast moving assault, demolisher lined up his run across both ships,but in doing so allowed Madcats vcx crews to score 90 easy points moving tokens across his base.

Demo took aim and killed first admonition,then in the next activation foresight with excellent damage output, however it was to little avail,a last turn takedown on black squadron who foolishly broke rank on one health and flew back into a fight he should have avoided.

Final Imperials 249 and 45 vp vs 161 and 135 vp so Mad cat steals a 6-5 with an mov of 2points.

As we signed off i had miscalculated my casualties So madcat has gone away believing he lost by 1mov So this will hopefully be a pleasant surprise when he reads back in the morning to discover his victory! - a much fairer result considering his trio of freighters were the stars in this one (outside of Demo of course!!)

Tokra used excellent control and tactics to avoid attacks from the ISD and Demolisher before destroying them with squadrons. With the two big hitters out of the game, his single-die Gozantis proceeded to hold the loose tokens and the Lambda had an opportunity to move one that was almost lost over to his range on turn 6.

Yep, we're playing later today.

So @ManInTheBox and @anothermorat just finished with a 10 MOV win to me. To be fair this came through Mon Mothma's deciding she had more important things to do than watch Vader's defeat and flew off the board. My thank to Ben for a fun game and the chat on discord and to both our wives for bringing us tea.

Mon Mothma is too cool to stay around and watch explosions.

That was a really fun game. Loads of pew pew. The ISD suffered really badly from a critical that reduced it to speed 0 early on.

Major props to @anothermorat for being great company on voice chat too.

I've learned a lot from this tournament and have had 3 really great opponents. Thanks @Green Knight for making it happen and for everyone who popped in to give support and spectate.

One little hint to note: I saw it, but first it was to late (was in the next round) and second i don't interfere into matches without asking first. But because it was to late, i missed it.

The critical reduced the speed of the ISD to 0 (bad enough without a navigate token). But Vader should still work and can spend the defense Tokens for the reroll, even when at Speed 0.
This is because the rules only say: The defender cannot spend defense Tokens when the Speed is 0. But with Vader the ship is attacker. So the rule does not count for him this does not mean, that Vader stand over the rules...).

But it was a really nice match. Just to bad that Mon Mothma flew off the map. If she did not, it would not have changed anything in the end result (Morat would still be 4th). But it is always sad when you lose a match because of such a unlucky movement.

That's an interesting point about Vader and speed 0. It's not come up before and neither of us noticed the distinction of "defender".

Flying Mon Mothma off wasn't unlucky, it was just stupidity because i didn't check how close I was to the edge! Thanks for being kind though.

Edit: it's also the first time I've ever managed to break into the top half of a tournament. Woo!

I must admit I had to go scrambling for the rules reference but didn't spot the defender part. It would have been interesting but still we had a lot of fun.
