Cass me out Dash how bout' that?

By Mas2000, in X-Wing Squad Lists

A funny play on words, but maybe this squad has something?

Squadron ( 98 )

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 36
Push the Limit 3
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Kyle Katarn 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Outrider 5
Ship Total: 58
Cassian Andor — U-Wing 27
Adaptability 0
Sensor Jammer 4
Tactician 2
Recon Specialist 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Pivot Wing 0
Ship Total: 40

List looks fun. I like the name. I would suggest "Cass me outside, how bout Dash" though

I might do Kanan instead of Kyle, but that's just because I prefer the dial flexibility over the token reliability, so it might just be a matter of personal preference.

I think the point is Cassian sticks close-ish to Dash and at the beginning of activation takes away his stress, giving him a free dial and a focus from kyle. After Cassian dies, you have your old SuperDash still working, and only then you're limited to greens.

It might be hard in practice to make Cassian close to Dash + pointed at a target, since Dash want's to dash around the board (no pun intended) and the U-wing isn't particularly maneouvreable.

That is a good point that I hadn't thought about, but my point still stands. I'd rather use Cassian as a beater whose ability I occasionally benefit from, rather than a linchpin in the list. Though, I can now see how Kyle might be more useful than Kanan in this list, especially since Dash is still decently agile while restricted to greens.

I don't think Kyle would work with Cassian removing the stress.

Due to the way the "You" works in X-Wing, you might be right actually. Depends on who is doing the removing.

That's what I believe. The wording in Cassian is similar to the wording in Wingman. And according to the latest FAQ, Kyle doesn't work with Wingman

Yeah, Kyle and Cassian don't work together. Which is a shame, because if they did, Cassian might actually be vaguely viable.

I like the list as it is, although personally, I prefer something like PtL on Cassian; being able to stress yourself opens up some zero-stop shenanigans.

I tried a similar list but with a different Cassian build:

Cassian Andor (27)
Adaptability (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Hotshot Co-pilot (4)
Gunner (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Pivot Wing (0)

Total: 42

It obviously hits fairly hard. With two large bases boosting toward each other you can get them within range 2 from practically anywhere on the board so that the next round Dash's dial is fully open (at the cost of no focus from Kyle). I'm horrible at flying Dash so I only did two matches with it (1-1). Great fun though.
