Scum for new player

By Spellscape, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi all

I'm mostly now Empire player but bought many Scum ships and now want to use them

I want lists with StarViper and MistHunter (because they so unpopular and new to everyone)

But I have not only them - I have Scums and Villainy set, Hound tooth , IG 2000 , 2 JumpMasters 5000

For now I have to little play experience to make good list (I'm not going to tournaments for now)

Thank you for help

This sounds fun:

Guri - Virago title, Autothrusters, Sensor jammer

4-LOM - Adaptability (-1), Zuckuss Black market slicer tools, Mist Hunter title, Tractor Beam

Palob Godahli - Blaster turret, Tactician, Cloaking device, Moldy Crow title, Stygian particle accelerator

I don't know what you have for non Scum, so you may not have a HWK290...BUT...everything you need for it is in Most Wanted except for the model itself. I am sure any friendly game would allow you to fly an empty stand as long as the cardboard, dial, and cards are right.

Palob steals all of the focus tokens like the prick he is. He will draw lots of aggro as everyone instinctively hates him. Hence the cloak for added obnoxiousness. Guri uses this to her advantage with sensor jammer, effectively negating one hit for each attack coming her way. She is pretty tanky at range 3, and gets some extra bonuses at range 1. 4-LOM hands out stress at two ranges. I used adaptabilty -1 so everyone moves at 5, allowing you flexibilty.

This seems like a pretty good Scum version of a toolkit list. Lots of control, medium damage output.

Feel free to swap stuff out. None of the upgrades you might not have are completely necc. for the list to work.

I have Hawk but sadly not TIE Phantom (but will eventually), Also I can't get Lambda for 2 month now :-(

Can I swap Tactician, Stygian particle accelerator and Sensor jammer for something else?

Since you have 2 Jumpmasters, I recommend to try a Mindlink build with Guri, Palob and Zuckuss.

OK -that also would be nice to try. Can you give me tips on how to correctly use it?

I am thinking something like this:

Guri - Mindlink, Virago, Autothrusters, Fire Control System (I think you will need a Phantom for that)

Zuckuss - Mindlink, Dengar, Electronic Buffle, Mist Hunter, Tractor Beam

Palob - Not sure how to build it. Probably best if you have a TLT.

The idea is that trying to get free focus tokens with Palob or Guri. Than both Zuckuss and Guri will have focus + rerolls on their attacks (Zuckuss becomes a real beast with full modification), while they still have their normal action for repositioning (or evade for Zuckuss). The electronic baffle on Zuckuss helps to avoid to get stressed in critical moments.

You can also swap Palob with Manaroo (Mindlink, Unhinged astromech, K4 Security droid), though it is not as good as it used to be since Manaroo's range nerf.

Sorry, I just kind of assumed you had most of the Imperial stuff. Tactician can honestly be swapped out for any Scum crew you like. There are no bad Scum crew lol. The Stygian isn't necessary either. Cloak works just fine without it. If you have Vectored thrusters, a turreted HWK loves it. As for sensor jammer, well, you do kind of want that, but, like Scum crew, there are no bad system upgrades. Fire control system means you would always at least have your tatget lock after a sloop. Advanced sensors means you could action then sloop, or boost before a sloop for a super unpredictable maneuver.

I love Attani Mindlink, but I wouldn't do it here. The Hwk would be fine, but the Mist Hunter has a hard time turning around and the Star Viper lives and dies by its S loop. I can foresee too many turns where you need to do both.

Mindlinked Guri + Zuckuss + Manaroo worked really well for me. If you plan well, you don't need to do 2 red moves in one turn, and if you do, that's why I put the Electronic Baffle on Zuckuss. I lost only once with that build, and even that loss was only because I forgot to remove a stress token from Zuckuss after a green move, and made a red maneuver in the next turn, according to the plan.

That was before the Manaroo nerf, though.

Maybe Manaroo now can make synergy on Range 1 with Xizor?

Xizor loves both the JM5K and the G1-A to act as meat shields. They both have the health to absorb a lot of damage that would otherwise hit him. Your opponents will likely try to focus your escorts down, in the case, before hitting Xizor. So pump a lot points into him, and keep the other two cheap and cheerful. Manaroo is fine, then pair her with a Ruthless Freelancer. Then give Xizor Fire Control and a Torpedo of your choice, and see how much trouble you get into. Or use Guri in a similar build. She loves Advanced Proton Torpedoes, since she gets the free focus, making the shot very strong. But she automatically becomes primary target, there. So maybe give Manaroo the Bodyguard EPT.

4-Lom only passes stress at range 1. What do you mean by 2 ranges?

Or tactician at range 2. Just adds a little versatility.

Ooooh. Also a good idea. I haven't really touched Xizor since he just had Zs and Scyks to hand off his hits too.

Why not use the often forgotten Tel Trevura for his bodyguard, since he can take even more of a pounding?

For those who don't know, Tel Trevura is the Jumpmaster pilot who is not Dengar or Manaroo, lol.

Also, how does 4-Lom get the stress in the first place? I don't see any way to do thata.

Reading it over, sure enough, I left Zuckuss off of there. That is what I get for hand writing it from another program instead of just porting it in.

I have edited the original post.

Can you please give advice on list with

StarViper

JM5000 one or two

And G1a?

Im lost in upgrade synergy for now

Xizor Virago/Predator/Autothrusters/Advanced Sensors

Ruthless Freelancer Mist Hunter/FCS/Slicers/4-LOM/Tractor Beam

Contracted Scout Trick Shot/Anti-Pursuit Laser/BoShek/R5-P8

Third iteration of this list. You play expecting your opponent to focus the escorts, as they won't likely get too much onto Xizor early on; Xizor is kitted out for flexibility in the late game. Bumpmaster does Bumpmaster things and acts as a solid damage sink for Xizor, should your opponent decide to play that way. And the Freelancer just hits people, and acts as a damage sink again. I didn't try for any particular ship to ship synergy; each ship should be able to function decently if it should end up last on the board, although Xizor is the obvious ideal closer. If your opponent leaves Xizor sufficiently alone, he can break formation and start really putting in a kicking. Otherwise, just run in formation with the Scout in front, grab the bump, bump from behind with Xizor over and over using AdvSen to get actions, and if the opponent is toast if he can't get out from the bumping.

I'm 2 and 2 with the previous variations on this list. It struggles a bit against large-base mega-damage lists, and my dice are extremely variable - even with FCS and Predator rerolls. But it is fun, and the look on my opponents' faces when I pulled out these ships together was very satisfying. "What the @#^q&^$ is that?"

Here is a list, that is both fun to play and competitive and you should have all the cards for it

Starviper, Guri - Mindlink, Autothrusters (33)

G-1A, Zuckuss - Mindlink, 4-LOM, Electronic Baffle, Misthunter, Tractor Beam (32)

Jump-5000, Contracted Scout - Mindlink, R5-P8, Intelligence Agent, Feedback Array, Ion Projector (34)

In this build you should use the Junpmaster to bump and thereby steal actions. Intelligence Agent combined with barrel roll secures you know where to bump and can bump them. Ion Projector ionices them and feedback array secures damage against aces. R5-P8 helps protect against attacks - deals damage against the attacker.

Guri secures focus for mindlink with her ability (or with focus actions) and guns for them

Zuckuss uses his ability allways. 4 attackdice vs. 4 defencedice is a lot better than 3 attackdice vs. 3 defencedice. And this gets even better when 4-LOM prevents them from using focus, which is a VERY big difference at 4 or 5 defencedice. Electronic Baffle can prevent Zuckuss from being ioniced from EB if necessary. He functions as your hammer with focus from Guri and taking TL action gunning 4 or 5 attackdice against a focusless enemy because of 4-LOM.

Try it out :)

Thank you

I'll try tis one first (for some reason this one is seems like easer for new player like me)

But I'll surely try all others too. I like to have options with lists and ships
