Debilitator Class Interdictor for hotac and epic enhanced play.
Finished the mounting system for the Omen with some velcro, a perfect grade gundam stand I cannibalized and modded to high hell, some good old fashioned red oak that I cut to size and used for stabilizing the entire thing and gorilla glue! Gonna put some starfield on it and finish the base insert, but I love the way it turned out and its height means that it can completely and comfortable pass over small, large and epic ships with no problem. Incredibly imposing. The colossal base I came up with, which is double the width of a normal epic base and an additional large base longer makes for easy movement on a mat. I'm developing two movement dials for her. One will be the normal dial and will have the Omen take turns from the back corners which makes her take wide, sweeping turns. The other will be for Flank speed, which will measure turns from the front and will allow for much tighter turns with virtually no forward movement at all at the cost of less energy gain. The ship is remarkably nimble using a combination of the two movements and can easily fit without crowding too much even on a normal 3x3 mat. Still a ton of work to do, but the mount and movement for her was a huge hurdle I'm happy to say was leapt!

Beautiful. I really love this. Great pictures too, especially the second to last from underneath. Reminiscent of the opening scenes of A New Hope.
I'm not quite sure I get the movement though. It seems to me that if you start with the maneuver template at the back corner, the front end would sweep around to the new heading with little or no forward movement. And if you start with the maneuver template at the front corner, the rear would sweep outward and you would get forward movement at the new heading.

I can definitely see how you would think that and that's how I thought it would be also before I actually played around with it. I'll take some pictures tonight of its movement in action so you can see how it actually moves. From the back corner it has tons of forward movement and an extremely wide turn because I basically move it to the opposite side of the template when it turns. Covers a tremendous amount of ground with that one. However, there's absolutely no forward movement from the front corners and it shanks itself hard enough to practically spin itself in a circle after 3 turns, hence why I'm limiting Flank speed turns to every other turn unless you take a faceup damage card to the engine section.
Okay, I was on the fence about getting one, but not anymore. I'm also glad that the mods didn't flag/delete this thread, so now I can just post pictures of my Pelta frigate with impunity.
Edited by BenderIsGreatGreat work !
There's another a leap of faith from Russia.... The ZVEZDA Imperial Star Destroyer (Model 9057).
It's 60 cm only, but interesting IMHO.
Someone have one ? I'd like to see an image in comparison of a Tie ....
Many thanks.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to look this up later. Right now I'm heading out to play some X-Wing (Battlestar Gozant/Pallas campaign).
It's not so easy to find images, but the Zvezda apperas good detailed:

I've got a pelta coming next! Can't wait to see those swinging wing engines in the back!
I see now that you said it's 60cm (apx 24"). I've been google searching this and it seems Revell is going to release these in May as part of a 40th Anniversary celebration. It's listed as 1/2700 scale which I think is the same as the Russian one. It looks like it will have a retail price of 90 pounds (about $115).
At 60cm, it will be about 3 inches longer than your interdictor which is perfectlly fine for me. I'm going to keep an eye out for this.
Refugeanoth, have you had a chance to take some pictures of your ship's movement?

Completely forgot! Was busy on the arming of the Omen.

They're great, but the engine wings can be kind of loose, even after a coat of Citadel primer.
For basing I ordered some thick clear acrylic rods through Amazon.

You already have one? I'd love to see pictures!
Where'd you get the additional thruster cones?
Need to take some additional ones, since I've done work on it since then, but:

Love it! As far as mounting it goes, the solution I came up with works tremendously well and I was gonna do the same thing for the Pelta when it arrives. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GUNDAM-MG-Master-Grade-1-100-060-Ex-S-BANDAI-ACTION-FIGURE-MODEL-KIT-NEW-/182303105524?hash=item2a721ca1f4:g:UtIAAOSwsFpWTugL The base from this set is perfect for x-wing at exactly one large base longer than a normal epic and double the normal width. With a bit of creative modding and some velcro and wood, it's all too easy to get a mount put together than supports the ships incredibly well.

They sell the bases separately, you know ![]()

Unless you really want the Gundam also. I like the Sentinel design personally, but if all you need's the base?

Yeah, but that isn't the same base as the one that comes from this kit. The gundam I only wanted for parts to share between my interdictor and nebulon-b. It has alot of parts that ended up finding their way onto the Omen to up the detail and if you know of a way to get the stand from this specific kit separate from the gundam I'd love to find that.

If you check out Hobbylink Japan (hlj.com) and/or AmiAmi (amiami.com) among other Japanese model/toy sellers, they sell bases of all types and sizes, not to mention various option parts (from Kotobukiya and Wave) for various types of kits, including small thruster nozzles, etc.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
Paintjob complete.
