The Evolution of Panic Attack...?

By emeraldbeacon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm always looking for ways to make this trolliest of builds work in the current meta. Ships with multiple firing arcs, of course, seem to do best here (like the ARC-170 and Ghost), since Tactician has multiple ways of triggering. I'm wondering if there's a way to step up the squad even further though. So far, my thoughts lead to things like this:

  • Asajj Ventress with Tactician (naturally), Fearlessness (extra damage is always nice, and easier to trigger with 2 firing arcs), Countermeasures and Scavenger Crane, and some other illicit; maybe Glitterstim or Rigged Cargo Chute.
  • Ruthless Freelancer (G-1A) with Tactician, Collision Detector and Black Market Slicer Tools.
  • Ruthless Freelancer (G-1A) with Tactician, Collision Detector and Black Market Slicer Tools.

Naturally, Asajj would slide around the board, stressing for free at the start of combat, while she and the Freelancers would pop stress onto enemy ships at mid-range. In following turns, the Freelancers can roll in, turning that stress into damage with BMSTs. My main concern, of course, is the maneuverability and survivability of the Freelancers (which are basically Y-Wings without a turret). Future options include the Scurrg Bomber, which could replace the Freelancers point-for-point, if equipped with only a Tactician.

Your thoughts?

If you're gonna do this, definitely give Ventress Latts crew not Tactician. With this much stress flying around it'll make her extremely tanky.

That's a tough call. Yes, Latts would make Ventress quite tanky, but I'd be losing one stress-dealing opportunity at the same time. In the end, I believe you're right, that Latts is a better choice (besides, Ventress can keep triggering her all on her own).
