I'm still thinking about the EPTs. I have come up with three variations for Big Gorram Hero. The one on the left was my first idea but it would be useless for a huge ship escort. The one on the right would definitely be helpful for huge and low agility ships but I'm not sure if I like the feel of it. I'm leaning toward the middle one. It's helpful to anyone and has the feel of heroes charging in. What do you all think?

(And I'm still not thrilled with "I Aim to Misbehave". Any thoughts there?)

The agility one by far. Great ability! I have a pilot in my squadron that badly wants to fly a firefly for our next season when we start employing epics and building a fleet and multiple squadrons and I'm totally gonna pick one of these up!

Occurs to me. You're looking for an EPT to "reward" someone for charging in, but you want to make that reward a defensive buff for another ship. Why not make it an EPT version of Tactical Jammer. Say 1 point, since the EPT slot is so coveted that such an EPT is almost a penalty.

Or, say, half Biggs, half Tactical Jammer - if the enemy ship targets a different ship while you are in its firing arc, the other ship gets an extra evade die or result. Maybe 2 pts for that one?

I like this too. I think I'll write this version up and post a new side-by-side pic this evening:

If an enemy ship declares another friendly ship as the target of an attack while you are in the attacker's firing arc, the defender may add 1 <evade> to their defense roll.

Revised side-by-side comparison of Big Gorram Hero EPT. I'm just going to have pick something and stop sweating over it.

So, I'm still thinking about EPTs. I went ahead and picked one for Big Gorram Hero but I like the other variations too so I renamed them and gave them their own EPT cards (the text for covering fire is a bit different too, you give up red dice instead of green dice to buff the defender). I also came up with something a lot more janky for "I Aim to Misbehave". It might be too much. I could see it being very frustrating for the other player. A better version might be when the enemy ship gains or spends a focus token, assign your ship a focus token. Thoughts?

EPTs are hard. Once I finalize these I don't think I'm going to try creating any more.

Renamed one of the cards

I'd love to see an EPT named "Leaf on the Wind". RIP Wash :(

I like what you've done there, sir. I think your new Misbehave is probably pretty well-balanced - a solid combination of Kallus, Guri, and HotCop. Nice work.

Take a look at the Hoban Wash crew card upthread. It's not an EPT but it does include the Hoban Wash Soaring Leaf Maneuver (explained in the posted rules card).

Thanks Kleeg. I think I'll keep these as the final version.

I ran a little play test with Serenity. This was not an equal points 1v1 type match-up. I just wanted to play around with my Firefly expansion and see how things played out in a game.

For the Imperials I put together a 150 point squad:

Gozanti (40), Docking clamps (0), Dual Laser Turret (5), Optimized Generators (5), Automated Protocols (5), Shield Technician (1)

2x Storm Squad Pilot (23), Title (0), Accuracy Corrector (0)

4x Academy Pilot (12)

For the Firefly, I used Serenity and I let her have access to all of the Firefly crew and upgrades (except for weapons - Serenity has no hardpoints) but no other upgrades. Obviously 9 crew, 2 cargo and 2 modifications wouldn't be legal but I wanted to try everything out.

I also gave her an escort of 2x Hwk290 (spice runner) with TLT and Recon Specialist.

Pic1 Setup was a simple randomization.

Pic2 Round three was a little bit of a tangled mess as everyone was trying to avoid getting run over. One of the hawks failed and was crushed by the Gozanti.

Pic3 Full Engine Burn - ouch.

Vv357kP.jpg

Pic4 The next couple of rounds were rough for Serenity. The Gozanti launched its tie fighters and Serenity had to perform a crazy Ivan in order to avoid running off the edge of the board which cost her her actions. Serenity barely survived with one hull left.

JupMssm.jpg

Pic5 The next round started off better with Serenity recovering her 4 shields plus Kaylee repaired 2 hull. The tie fighters had to scramble out of Serenity's path (lots of Kturns) but the Tie/advanced got squashed by the Gozanti. Serenity wasn't out of danger though.

Pic6 When the dust settled, Serenity was back down to a single hull but 3 of the tie fighters were dead - 1 was shot down by Jayne, 1 was destroyed by Malcolm's "kill them right back" ability, and 1 was shot down by the hawk's TLT.

Pic7 Last round. Even though Serenity had recovered 2 shields and a hull, the collision took her back down to 1 hull and then the little academy tie finished her off with a range 1 attack scoring hit, hit, crit.

Comments: In the early rounds with only 3 Imperial ships going after Serenity, Inara plus Book was very effective at denying attacks on Serenity but against the swarm of ties later on, it didn't help as much and I kept using Book's ability for other things. Malcolm's and Zoe's abilities were helpful. Kaylee made a huge difference in the late game. Wash being able to decide whether to move before or after the Gozanti was really useful. The Full Engine Burn was a little bit wasted on just the Gozanti. It would have been great to have been able to burn some of the ties at the same time. I don't think anything really felt over-powered or awkward. This makes me hopeful that a legal squad built around one of these Firefly ships could make a balanced game.

On a side note. The one Dual Laser Turret hardpoint on the Gozanti wasn't that great. Next time I would probably add ordnance tubes or something for greater firepower.

Trying to figure out how to make this ship fit in season 2 of my hotac campaign. Seems to be a really cool and unique ship to fly. One of the things I would suggest as far as facilitating the ship having more of a nimble feel to it would be to use the epic movement template with the little triangle part put against the front corners of the base when turning for the cost of one less energy gain than normal. It's what I used to make my Interdictor playable on a 3x3 space and it works great.

I think it would be great in a HotAC type campaign. The ship itself is the "Little Gorram Hero" from Quantum Mechanix I found on ebay for $90 (original retail $100). I wanted to magnetize it and mount it on Epic ship pegs but decided to make a custom stand instead since I didn't want to damage the model but I still wanted to use an Epic ship base.

As for maneuverability, it's the same as the GR75 plus a zero stop. The only reason I got so close to the edge of the game board was because I wanted to try out the Full Engine Burn which necessitated a speed 4 straight but it also gave me an excuse to try out the Crazy Ivan the next turn.

Oh yeah, I found the model as soon as I saw your post. I've got people in my group that want to fly the ragnarok from ff8 and the outlaw star from the anime and cowboy bebop ships and all sorts of crazy stuff (including things that don't exist anywhere that I just create), so this would actually be the most "normal" of all those things lol.

I don't suppose any of this is downloadable for us hacks who don't have any talent for creating such shiny things. . .

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I have .eon files (strange eons) for everything and I have jpegs which I believe are all accurately sized for printing. I'll see if I can PM them to you but it may be a couple of days.

Hey, I appreciate the comeback and thanks! This is some pretty amazing work you've done. Looking forward to giving it a try.

PM sent.

I would also be interested in the files if you don't mind, thanks!
