The Tie Phantom is my favorite ship to fly in X-wing. Whisper probably appears in over 50% of the lists I have ever played. I have never ever flown her without Veteran Instincts; up to this point I've always considered it an auto-include. However, with Kylo Ren, we now have a way to consistently and permanently drop an enemy ship's pilot skill to 0. Do you think this realistically opens up the EPT slot on Whisper? Assuming obviously that you pair her with someone that can reliably get the crit in for Kylo, like RAC.
Whisper without VI
Yea or just put Kylo in the phantom itself and use like backdraft sf tie and add that crit out the back and maybe a strong ace that fires first and a way to get a crit through

I love to fly to Whisper too. I'm going to say no. I'd still take VI if I was going to field her. Kylo isn't a guarantee. What happens if you don't land the crit? Then you have an uncloaked PS 7 Whisper vulnerable to PS7s (w/ initiative) and higher pilots. She needs to be a high PS to get ACD triggered for the rest of the combat round.
I run an Echo with RAC list. With Palp on board RAC I use Lone Wolf on Echo. If some has 3 pilots over PS6 it's gonna be a tough match. If not I'm just judicious with how I play Echo until RAC pushes those two Damaged Cockpits through. I think it doable with Kylo. Without its tough. Being able to guarantee a crit is of course vital as well.

But why Marksmanship? It's got conflicting action needs with Kylo, and locks down your action. I'd rather go with something like Expertise, to make the actions purely defensive or Kylo in nature.
How about this load out:
Veteran Instincts
Fire-Control System
Kylo Ren
Fire-Control System
Pattern Analyzer
Lightweight Frame
Special Ops Training
Adaptive Ailerons

Ship Total: 23All PS9 with a decent-ish way to trigger Kyo in Backdraft. A squirrelly ace in Duchess. One point initiative bid as well. Was thinking of maybe switching the EPT on BD to wired but I like all the PS9s.
I'm not a fan of "Action" crew on Whisper. When I fly her (w/ FCS of course), I'm always taking either a Focus action or Barrel Rolling. I find her damage consistency and defense rely on these. I like passive crew on Whisper. If I were going to field both Whisper and Klyo crew in the same list, I'd probably do this ...
