Y-TLT vs HWK-TLT

By IG88E, in X-Wing

I know the TLT will be target priority of the enemy.

What set-up is better? Both are 24 points, and no more points left:

*** Gold-Y-wing + TLT

*** HWK-290 + TLT + Rey crew

At normal my Y-wing is dead after 2 or 3 rounds of shooting. It should be possible to collect at least 2-3 focus token with the HWK-290 prior first round of shooting.

I don't think the dial will play a big role in this case and I have unfortunately no point left for R4-D6 on a Y-wing.

So 8 health from Y-wing behind 1 agility (1 focus) vs 5 health of HWK-290 behind 2 health (3-4 focus).

I know it also depends on the number of enemy ships etc, but what comes to my mind are Rey/Deci double ship lists, 2-3 Defender, some TLTs, TIE/sfs, etc

Opinions?

Thanks

I like my TLT HWKs with Recon Specialist for 25 points and 2 focus per turn.

Rey should work well for the first couple turns of combat. I'd go with that personally.

I would say it depends on your list. If you are running them in formation, with like Biggs or have a large ship to prevent range 1, the TLT Hwks are probably the better choice. If they need to survive on their own, the Ywing has the better dial able to 3 bank multiple times in a row. Also, the primary guns can do work on the Ywing if you ever need it. Nobody is scared of landing range 1 of a HWK primary.

I had success with two TLT Hwks with Biggs and a Uwing. Very rarely did I wish they were Ywings.

Aggressor TLT Wins Hands down. :P

TLT with better maneuvering, I'm going to enjoy playing Imperial again. ;)

You need TLTs to enjoy imperials? ;)

Nah, I just wan't to troll a certain group of Imperial players. Those that say you are not playing skilled X-wing unless you are playing Imperial, and you are not playing good Imperial unless you are playing Interceptor. ;)

As for me, I have been saying that Imperials could use more access to upgrade slots as they are the only faction denied two whole upgrade slots as well as being the only faction without their own specific faction only upgrade slot. Crossing one off the list IMHO provides for a more balanced list building and play experience across all the factions.

My question is why fly TLT at all

Remember the old adage, "the right tool for the right job"? Sometimes the "right tool" just happens to be a TLT.
