Come On Down! Price is Right: Wave 6 Edition

I agree with most of this, but I doubt the Hammerhead will be as fast or maneuverable as a CR90. The speed dial in the preview for the hammerhead is set to "3", and as far as I know that has been a solid indicator of the ship's max speed.

While the speed dial is always set to a speed the ship is capable of, it is not always set to its max speed. Here's a rundown:

Wave 1:

VSD: 2 shown, 2 max

CR90: 3 shown, 4 max

Nebulon-B: 3 shown, 3 max

AFmk2: 3 shown, 3 max

GSD: 3 shown, 3 max

Wave 2:

ISD: 2 shown, 3 max

MC30c: 3 shown, 4 max

MC80: 2 shown, 2 max

Raider: 3 shown, 4 max

Wave 3:

Gozanti: 3 shown, 3 max

GR75: 3 shown, 3 max

Wave 4:

Interdictor: 2 shown, 2 max

Liberty: 2 shown, 3 max

Wave 5:

Pelta: 2 shown, 2 max

Arquitens: 3 shown, 3 max

So a third of the ships preview dials have been set lower than their maximum speed. Also, no ship has ever had a preview dial set to 4, so if the Hammerhead's max speed is 4 (which I certainly think is possible) it wouldn't show that anyway.

Now the word shown just looks funny to me.

Finally, as my personal crack-pot theory, I predict it will be the first squadron "0" ship. Mostly to keep the cost down, but also because with an offensive retrofit and admiral Leia, it would be very easy to turn a squadron "1" hammerhead into a squadron "3" carrier. And it could take Flight controllers. As much as I would love that, seems a bit crazy on a dinky outdated freighter.

Why would you bother when, for 23 total points, you could have a GR-75 pushing 4 squadrons under Leia?

Mid 60s for Quasar and mid-30s for Hammerhead makes sense to me.

Quasar 1: 58
Quasar 2: 64

Torpedo Hammerhead : 42
Long Range Hammerhead: 46

No way FFG will print a ship that has 3 dice in the front, 5 hull and has an ordnance and weapon team slot for under 40 points. 5 hull is way too much for 30sum points.

That assumes it really is 5 and not a 3 is very hard to read.

The style of FFGs 3 and 5 is very distinct. Check a flotilla vs an Arq or Neb and you'll see what I mean.

Still hard for me to tell as the Nebulon-B and flotillas articles are more zoomed in then the Hammerhead pictures.

The Hammerhead has 4 cards because it comes with two ships in the box, so two variant cards for each physical ship.

I think the Hammerhead will be Squadrons 1, it just doesn't seem from the show or movie that it is a commanding squadrons type. I could see one of the variants being Squadron 2. Engineering of 2 or 3.

The pricing on both will be interesting, as the Hammerhead will/is in some ways better, others worse than a CR90, so will probably end up being cheaper overall. We need a little more info and by the time we get that info we will probably know the price.

True...but it IS possible there could conceivably be 4 different costs...maybe.

The article says "two pairs of ship cards"

The more expensive quasar has to be cheaper then a Vic-1 other wise why bring it? Less hull, two defense tokens, and minimal shields as well as minimal to boot.

Low 60s for sure.

The Quasar shouldn't be less than 50, nor more than 60, it's way too squishy. With what's been released a Corvette could knock it out without trouble.

It probably can't even run away...

Shame, would have been a great opportunity to buck the trend ;)
