Oh no, the Curse on the TIE Aggressor

By clanofwolves, in X-Wing

I don't want to be negative in any way, but I thought of something and it gave me great pause on having any excitement about the yet unknowns of the TIE Aggressor. Background: the TIE Punisher came out with the toughest, bad *** name there has yet been given to any ship of any wave. But, it didn't cut the competitive mustard at all, whereas the neutered in name and unwieldy, odd looking K-Wing was the bad *** of that Wave competitively. So, here's the potentially negative correlation: the TIE Aggressor has arguably the second most aggressive name behind the Punisher.

So.....talk me off the ledge. Could the dial, pilot abilities, etc. make a really good ship? Please talk me down. Thanks!

Now where's a pint?

I don't think FFG thinks about that, and all ships are INTENDED to be balanced.

Not a chance, bud. TIE Aggressor is going to have only reds and 2 whites.

Pilot Ability will be as follows:

Once per round, after performing a red manoeuvre, you may assign yourself a second stress token.

But the TIE Nose-tickler has 5ATK native and 15 HP, with an interceptor dial and in an X-Wing first can take any upgrade.

The TIE Aggressor can have a turret upgrade. If you ask the right people it is already broken no matter what the rest of the stats might say.

If the TIE Aggressor turns out to be not aggressive enough, I vote to rename it the TIE Meanie. At least I'd feel better about flying it then.

The TIE-to-make-all-arc-dodgers-cry.:P

You know the old saying, if you can't beat em, join em.;)

I don't know if the Avenger will be competitive but most X-Wing ships can work well in the hands of a skilled player.

I flew the Defender for game after game in the early days, stretching my points, knowing that the Scum I played against had a slight tactical advantage, but I used it anyway. I found out when to use the K-turn, and when to psych it out. I had fun playing the elite Imperial facing down the numberless horde, out to shatter expectations and cockpits for the Imperial Fleet, surprising those filthy pirates who watched with amazement as a single TIE jumped in and danced around their fighters.

And most of the time that valiant pilot went down in a blaze, or was left drifting in his ejector seat to be taken captive by the scum he had just battled.

But I played, and waited, and played more, and eventually my faith was rewarded. The veterans came along and brought the new ways of the Tie/D and the X/7, as well as the tractor beam. And so was that in those days a young pilot took unto the stars his father's ship reforged anew and smote down the Scyk and the Brobots and the YV-666 that once brought shame to his family name.

TLDR. Don't worry, cinematic play is where it's at, and if it's broken they'll fix it with titles and upgrades.
