All Aboad!

By Parkdaddy, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

The idea is to proc some really nice flip-effect crits with APTs from the 30s and follow up with a really mean Boarding action. A semi-lucky proc of 2 structural from one 30's double arc could potentially get 6-8 damage straight through to hull (pending interpretation of Boarding engineers) before Paragon shoots. Moderate bid for first, but A-ok with second.

I have an alternate version with 2 ET-ed CR90bs instead of the extra shrimp, but I'm waiting for a Hammerhead spoil because those could potentially be the cherry on top.

Dodonna on an AF2 designed to close to close range frightens me. I really want to find a way to make this idea work, and I think you're on the right track, but I'm not sure about the implementation.

I'm really having some reservations about the boarding engineer construct overall, and particularly for the Rebels. It's really a big-ship killer... So what if there is no big keystone ship to kill? Sure you're going to just murder the crap out of a Nebulon or GSD, but then... Meh.

This of course assumes the always-discard interpretation. If it's not always discarded... Yeah, this is gonna get nasty quick. Dodonna has a roughly 50/50 chance to flip SD on any given crit. *shudder*

Were people reading it as an "always discard," versus a command dial discard *or* a token plus upgrade discard? That didn't even come up on my radar as a possibility. I just immediately read it working similar to the Fleet Command upgrades. Always discarding would suck.

I guess thematically one wouldn't have an endless supply of boarding parties, but thematically it would also be really hard for a boarding party to jump ship in the time it takes for the home ship to send off, shoot, and fly away.

But yes, while this list is designed for up close and personal fighting, its still got 3 big threats (two of which can survive pretty much anything at least once), a competent fighter wing, and a savage objective selection if it loses the bid. One of the 3 may drop fast, but then there are still the other 2 to contend with

Most wanted is probably the only real weakness against an MSU, activation advantage aside, which really isn't a major problem in this list. I was thinking of dropping the second Transport to get more defensive upgrades on the ships (Derlin, Admo) and maybe a Biggs ball. Or Luke.
