Seems Like a great build but can Tycho be replaced with something better?

By BinaryShield, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have this build and I've gone 3-1 so far with it but I feel that I could be replacing Tycho with something a little better for the list. I really like Keyan right now as he can react to anything a lower PS can dish out and I really like my standard Poe setup (I don't have R5-P9). The only thing that Tycho has been successful at doing is blocking and just generally getting in the way. Any help would be appreciated.

TYCHO KEYAN POE

100 points

PILOTS

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (38)
T-70 X-Wing (31), R2-D2 (4), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2)

Tycho Celchu (28)
A-Wing (26), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Rage (1), Push the Limit (3)

Keyan Farlander (34)
B-Wing (29), Advanced Sensors (3), Stay on Target (2)

I'm not sure about removing Tycho but I've switched PTL for Wired to add Hera and the crew mod to Keyan. That way you can keep doing red's with Stay On Target. I'm not sure if that helps at all.

some good rebel options at that point value are...

Tarn Mison (23) R7 Astromech, Integrated Astromech (25) (surprisingly tanky)

TLT Y Wing (25) (gotta love easy damage)

Jake Farrell (24) A-Wing test pilot, chardaan refit, PTL, Juke (29) (more manuverable than tycho, fun option, can always drop juke to crack shot to stay at 28)

Ahsoka Tano (17) (I haven't personally used the rebel tie fighter. you can load up ahsoka and use her for more action economy for poe and keyan and wait for the right moment to add her to the action)

Edit: just a quick stab at an ahsoka build...

Ahsoka Tano, Sabine's Masterpiece, Captured Tie, Wingman, EMP Device, Rey. (25) Rey lets you focus stack. wingman works with stay on target. would also allow you to put PTL on poe (gasp). EMP device would be super annoying illicit because tie fighters are fast and they won't be able to shoot at ahsoka anyway.

I don't know how I've never seen this combo before but I really like it. The only issue with all of this is that I don't have the Rebel Transport. I feel like I need it though, because I run with Poe way to often to not be using R5-P9.

You can replace R7 with M9-G8 if you want. It only provides a single reroll, but it provides it to every attacker. And then you can spend it when you're attacking :) . It reduces his end game survivability, but it allows you to be more aggressive with him to start with - hopefully either getting a free R1 4 dice shot, but if not, then at least you get a R1 TL+F, and they have to reroll a die on their attack.

I would be more along the lines of finding 5 points to give Tycho Proton Rockets instead of dropping him from the list. As such, I would think about dropping PTL for 3, and then R2D2 to R5P9 (I would do this anyways), and VI to Adaptability saving 5 points to equip Prockets (and GC) on Tycho. He loses some defensive capability, but 2 dice is useless these days, so he can turtle up with F+E all he wants and no one will shoot at him. You can also put Adaptability into his second EPT slot, allowing you to go to 799 or 777 depending on the matchup.
