I'm running 2 PS 9s. Do I want initiative with the current meta? I mean, does it matter? No Whisper, so I don't really need it. Right?
Do I need Initiative?

Who are the PS9's? It really comes down to if you need to be able to control who shoots first or who flies last.
If you Aces have repositioning moves, you will probably want to go second to help arc-dodge Fenn Rau. Soontir and Whisper seem to have dropped off the radar a bit lately. Dengar still pops up from time to time but the nerfing of Dengaroo means a single power-list containing him has not yet re-emereged.
If you can bring your list in at 99 points, that 1 point might well be worthwhile if you find yourself against other PS9 aces. At least it gives you the option.
Yes. Dengar and Fenn both exist, you need a bid to make sure you can get the choice you want, and I suspect Whisper and Vader start to creep back in now that Dengaroo has gone and died in a fire like it always should have.
Edited by thespaceinvaderI would maybe do 99pts if you can but wouldn't try too hard unless you have a specific plan in mind. You need to get used to being on both sides of the fence.

Why do I need initiative against them? Isn't there still simultaneous attack?

Yeah, but against Dengar and Fenn, you'll want to go last so you can control position, dodge arcs, etc. Against Whisper, you'll want to go first so she can't decloak, shoot, recloak before you attack. A decloacked Whisper is a dead Whisper. A cloaked Whisper is a giant pain in the ass.

So based on current meta, which should I go for? 99 points? 100 points?

If you're running two PS9 pilots, yeah, I'd probably at least have a 1-point initiative bid.
Which PS9 ships is it? Some rely on arc dodging more than others so can be hard to say in general

Dengar/Bossk

Can you give me an in-depth explanation of why I need a 1 bid? If I go against Whisper, they will most likely have a 3 bid, correct? So, no Whisper. Also, don't I want to go last for moving when against Dengar or Fenn, meaning, I DON'T want initiative?
You want initiative either way. And with the Emperor's New Groove, the old Whisper/OL/Palp list might not see as much play. So, they might have a bid of three...or they night only have a bid of one, in which case you get to roll them for it.
And, no. Against someone like Dengar or Fenn you always want to move last. Since you have Dengar and Bossk that isn't such a huge deal for arc dodging, so much as it is for range control. If Fenn doesn't know where you are going to be, he can't boost in for a range one kill shot. If Dengar doesn't know where you are going to be, then he might make a mistake and TL the wrong guy, and/or he can't barrell roll away from a devastating shot you were about to make.

There's nothing really in depth about it. If you win initiative, you get the choice of going first or last. That's it. With two PS9 pilots, you'll probably want to go first for some matchups and last for others. Why are you asking? Are you debating whether to spend the points or not?

Oh, thanks! Someone on the forums the other day told me that if you win Init you are forced into having init. I didn't know you could choose!
For dengar I think you should definitely want to have initiative control so a bid of 1 point at least is a given, I'dd do two points of bid whenever I fly a PS9 that is squishy or has some positional mechanic like Dengar.
