Suggested Rebels viewing?

By bleezy, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey guys, I watched 5 or 6 Rebels episodes and although I thought it was OK, I can't see myself watching through every single episode of every season.

But naturally as a huge Armada fan I want to understand the context of all these new ships and officers coming into the new waves of Armada. Does anyone have a "must watch" list of Rebels episodes, preferably ones that focus on the major fleet battles, new ship introductions, and character introductions (for those who are officers or commanders in Armada)?

Thanks!

honestly they are only 22 minute episodes. You should be able to get through all episodes in n afternoon. It's worth it.

The problem with a "must watch list" is almost every episode has something that becomes important later.

I have enjoyed the show quite a bit, although like most some episodes are better than others. I'll highlight those with connections to Armada and the larger Star Wars universe:

Season 1 - All about a single Rebel cell on the planet Lothal.

  • Episode 1&2 - Spark of Rebellion - Pretty important as an introduction to the crew of the Ghost, also introduces Minister Tua and Agent Kallus who feature throughout Season 1. Features a James Earl Jones cameo as Vader.
  • Episode 3 - Droids in Distress - C-3PO, R2D2, and Bail Organa make appearances. Also canonizes the ship from the Star Tours ride at Disneyland
  • Episode 5 - Rise of the Old Masters - Introduces the main season 1 antagonist and soon to be Officer upgrade, The Grand Inquisitor.
  • Episode 6 - Breaking Ranks - Features Commandant Aresko, although he shows up in other episodes too
  • Episode 8 - Empire Day - Introduction of the TIE Advanced Prototype and Valen Rudor
  • Episode 10 - Path of the Jedi - Frank Oz cameos to voice a force projection of Yoda
  • Episode 11 - Idiot's Array - Lando cameos in this one voiced by Billie Dee himself
  • Episode 13 - Call to Action - Tarkin appears
  • Episode 15 - Fire Across the Galaxy - Sabine's Custom TIE seen in action. Phoenix Squadron makes an appearance. Ahsoka's first appearance in Rebels. ISD blown up.

Season 2 - The cell joins a wider network in the sector and spends time searching for a base.

  • Episode 1&2 - Siege of Lothal - VADER!!, The Phoenix Home appears and is promptly slagged. Sato becomes a semi-regular.\
  • Episode 6 - Brothers of the Broken Horn - Introduction of Hondo Ohnaka in Rebels a character from the Clone Wars voiced by the same guy who did Minsc in Baldur's Gate if you're old enough to care about that.
  • Episode 7 - Wings of the Master - Introduction of the B-Wing. It slags an Arquitens. Nods to the old West End RPG introduction to the B-Wing in the planet name of Shantipole.
  • Episode 8 - Blood Sisters - Introduces the Shadow Caster and Lancer
  • Episode 9 - The Interdictor, Konstantine, Titus
  • Episode 12 - A Princess on Lothal - Leia delivers some Hammerheads to the Rebels
  • Episode 16 - Homecoming - Chaim Syndulla and the Rebels capture a Quasar Fire Carrier
  • Episode 21-22 - Twilight of the Apprentice - more Vader and a really great episode, but it's only a payoff if you've watched the whole series.

Season 3 - We get hints of a wider Rebellion as the group plans an assault on the manufacturing center back on Lothal.

  • Episode 1-2 - Steps into Shadow - Brings Thrawn fully into the series
  • Episode 4 - Wedge and Hobbie get recruited. TIE Interceptors show up
  • Episode 8 - The YT-2400 gets on screen
  • Episode 9 - The Wynkathu Job - The Rebels steal some Y-Wings for General Dodonna
  • Episode 12 - Ghosts of Geonosis - Tie in with Rogue One when Saw Gerrera makes an appearance
  • Episode 18 - Secret Cargo - Mothma, Dutch, Y-Wings, the Rebel Fleet

That's the major Armada tie-ins I think. The overall meta-arc is good enough to make it worth watching all the way.

New ship introductions? Major fleet battles? Character Introductions?.........

....

...

...

yeah every episode is needed

If I'm not terribly interested in random ships appearing, is there a recommended viewing list in the same way that 4chan put together a recommended viewing list that cut out all the filler episodes (especially the awful Padme and Jar Jar episodes) of Clone Wars?

All episodes in an afternoon? There are 57 22 minute episodes....

Shmitty gives a great run down so I'll defer to his list

Wait... Hondo is voiced by the same guy that did Minsc?

Now I so want him to call one of the Ugnaughts Boo.

"Go for the eyes Boo!"

Back on Topic, if I were to do a cherry pick list of episodes, watch Spark of Rebellion, then Fire Across the Galaxy, just book end season 1. Season two gets better with Ahsoka around and more Jedi training (there maybe an episode or two that aren't quite worth it, but I cannot think of them at this time), season three has been excellent so far.

added OT content.

Assuming you started at the beginning with the 5-6 episodes you watched, you just missed the point where it picks up.

The first half half dozen episodes were, meh, but it started getting good with the "empire day" 2 parter (episodes 7-8). I would push through to the end of season one before making a final judgement, the last episode of that season was awesome.

Probably won't get one of those until the series is done.

Just watch it on and off. It's not great, but it's not horrible. A kid's show really. I can stomach one, maybe two episodes, then let it rest for a week or five.

Watch 'em all! I've watched seasons one and two with my lad and I enjoyed it far more than Rogue One.

... And as a Rebel Player it's always nice to see those Arquitens getting blowed up! :D
