Yes.

At that point, what is the point in playing if you're so paranoid about a coordinated bomber alpha strike, which can kill an untouched ISD according to you? Why bother trying to build a fleet if bomber fleets are so OP? I'm getting conflicting opinions from you.

Bombers are are so strong there is nothing you can do without hamstringing your fleet so badly that literally any other fleet will beat you if you try to win the squad game against bombers, but if I don't build to face 134 points of bombers what's the point in playing because I'll lose 10-1 to it.

I like hearing your thoughts on squadrons, despite what other people may think of them. You have valid concerns for the state of Armada and I think we both agree that FFG is going a bit crazy with the squads. That said, you need to enjoy the game like everyone else. Stop obsessing over squads and acknowledge that fleets can be built for other things.

Over the week I perfected an even better 134 mass bomber squadron list. :X. If I had the health for more than 1 game a day I'd unleash it on the world.
So, I just made more bomber fleets.

I dunno, do you accept the 1-10? (Typically its not a 1-10, but its a very high chance of still losing 3-7 4-6: not without casualties on the bomber side. Reminder solar corona or point based objectives, like the 3 triumvirate: precision strike, fighter ambush, superior positions).

Playing against bomber fleets all the time really does suck the fun out of the game. I would enjoy some suggestions for getting back to the fun of the game.

But uhh. Thanks for the listen? Although, I'm very unsure if that's sincere or if you're trying to trick me to stop talking.

Hrm, yeah, I guess I'd been thinking about them spread out a bit...like, trying to put them in opposite corners and making a channel down the middle of the map he has to travel down, but it seemed like this would not be effective as 6 mines/obstacles is just too easy to maneuver around. But clumping them ALL in one spot in the map.... maybe . That just might be dense enough to work...

It used to be I built them to create a wall my opponent has to fly through, but I quickly realized a couple of things. One, it can encourage the enemy to speed 0 against you and force you to go over your own wall of mines to score points. Two, they can choose to tank one of the spread out mines with a tough ship and ignore it. Clustering them somewhat close together to cover an area big enough that a speed 4 ship can't escape it (potentially eating a bad crit, like engine rupture), is a good deterrent and secures your flank from anything other than fighters being pushed by Relay squadrons.

Speaking of squadrons...

Since Blail brought up Mythics' list again, I think it's only a matter of time before more tournaments demonstrate how powerful max squadrons are with stacked BCCs... they'll probably have to now that Sloane is out there and will pretty much guarantee all brace tokens will be stamped out from unanswered TIE Swarms. Things will escalate up until Rebels are still winning the squadron war because their fighters are simply better at everything they need to be. Squads have been getting progressively better and more popular (along with MSUs) since Wave 2 hit its stride. Mythics' list is just the natural conclusion of that avenue of thought in the most competitive approach to the game.

We'll have to see if the Quasar Fire changes things for the Empire... but it's not the one doing the fighting. And judging on the defense token count and composition, it doesn't seem like it wants to.

Getting back to Blue objectives... If you're tangling with the kind of fighter list Blail and I confront on occasion, I'd suggest minefields or Solar Corona. The former won't hurt fighters, but unless they take enough Relay to navigate outside of command range, their carriers are at risk of hiting mines, or funneling into the direction you want them to go. Though I think if I were Mythics behind that list I'd just drop down to 0 and either declare a stalemate or bait you into running into your own mines. He's a trickster that one, and he's more concerned with winning via scenario specifics and point accumulation than actually going forth and destroying his opponent. It's why he'll bid for first and pick second when he's facing anything other than Demolisher.

Solar Corona gives you the advantages of Superior positions without the achilles' heel of allowing his fighters to pepper you to death in the back and score tons of points. He'll likely deploy center so as to minimize his disadvantages, probably going speed 0 again to draw you in and minimize aiming at the sun. *Shrug*

Yes :)

And to the OP, I think large ship blues all need Strategic. I have had good fortune with both sensor net and salvage run. I like salvage run the best, but sensor net can be absolutely abused for points if you can get your shuttles to snag tokens and keep shuttling them in front of your ships.
