Size of the Quasar Fire

By GrandAdmiralCrunch, in Star Wars: Armada

According to the Legends EU, the Quasar Fire is 340 meters in length.

Judging by pictures, the size hasn't changed much:

Up till now the largest small base ship was the MC-30c at 580m, and the smallest medium was the Assault Frigate at 700m.

So, has the Quasar Fire been imbiggened, or is something weird going on with base sizes?

The new canon version is larger

Is there official confirmation of this. Google didn't turn up anything.

I think the second picture posted is the picture of the new cannon Quasar fire from it's appearance in Rebels.

Correct.

In other scenes, they seem to have tried to make it more prominent.

Offically there is no new size but what we see on screen is larger then a Arquiten.

In this episode the Ghost (44 meters) has enough room to come to a comfortable crashing/sliding stop in one of the hangars, with room to spare. So its a decent size ship (its gotta hold a Star Destroyer worth of squadrons after all!) That said, FFGs sliding scale in Armada has been all kinds of wonky, The Interdictor is a medium ship, yet its as large if not larger than a Liberty cruiser in universe.

Does anybody have any intention of running those two fleets against each other when they have the chance? I know the Quaser is an Imp ship, but I mean a casual, 'what-if' type game where you took the cheaper Quasar without titles and added it to the rebel list? It would be interesting to see what'd happen. . .

AF is 700m.

Also throwing out there: by appearances, the MC30 is significantly less girthy than the QF. Maybe it's not just length that determines size category?

Should it should be a dual rebel and imperial ship. Based on the top photo

Well, given the background of the universe - the Imps should be able to field corvettes since they were republic ships and the Empire runs the old republic. Same with hammerheads and most ships (maybe not Mon Calamari) that the rebels have appropriated.

But from a game standpoint it would be odd to slosh faction ownership like that.

Its admittedly hard to tell. The picture with the bombers flying out makes it look much smaller than the other stills. In the others it looks right around double the length of an Arquitens, which would put in the neighborhood of 500ish meters long. That also seems accurate because by eyeballing it the ship appears to be more than 1/4 but less than 1/3 the size of an ISD. So yeah, Rebels version is bigger than legends.

I put it in the 400x400 range.

Judging by the number of fighters in the OP pic, that one looks like a squadron value 2 ship. Quasar being released is the squadron value 4 version. Hence, bigger.

Just my being sassy lol.

Well, in X-Wing it's done all the time- there are several ships that have Scum and Rebel versions, sometimes even sold in the same expansion pack.

Anyway, I just hope that the Quasar is not too pricey on point costs :)

I think it would be awesome if the Quasar and/or Hammerhead could be fielded by both factions.

I hope to see alternative faction cards for stolen small and medium ships in the next campaign pack.

I count 14 on the bottom row, with some on the top, for my arguments sake I'm going to assume it would hold the same, so that's 28 fighters, but it doesn't show how deep they would go. I'm going to guess at 4 deep based on the depth of the hanger bay itself. That's 112 individual fighters. Wookipedia says 48 star fighters.

Still less than an ISD that has the same SQN value. I'm not complaining though, love me a decent cheap carrier.

I'm pretty sure the only reason the Interdictor is a medium size ship is for game mechanics, because a Large ship version of it with Motti would have been nasty in how tanky it would be, or at least it sure was when people first talked about that point when they revealed it.

In X-Wing Rebels even have a TIE Fighter! One day I expect the Rebel Lambda-class Shuttle. Armada hopefully has a way to go before it has to start giving Rebels Star Destroyers.

Honestly, I still can't believe they gave the Quasar to the imperials, considering in every starwars game ever made it was the designated rebel carrier. Even in that rebels cartoon show they show rebels stealing it from the imps. Yes its originally manufactured by the Empire, but so is pretty much every other ship the Rebels use except for the Mon Cal cruisers. I will never get used to seeing it in Imperial fleets. :)

Size seems to be around the same.

I think part of it might be that they were running out of canon ships for the Empire, whereas they still have a couple for the Rebels.
