Outmaneuver from auxiliary arc

By SwordOwaR, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Yea an old question, so does Outmaneuver work when using it from the auxiliary arc?

So for example you have Outmaneuver on an ARC-170, you fly past the enemy and have them in your auxiliary arc and are not in their arc can I then use Outmaneuver?

Last two games I played with ARC-170's I had two different answers one that I couldn't and one that I could, sort of makes the card redundant on a ship with an Aux arc if you can't use it.

Yes, otherwise it would specify "primary" arc

I would say yes. The card just says "In your arc" and aux arcs count. It's would be the same ruling as Autothrusters for example.

Outmaneuver does not specify a type of firing arc. Any and all firing arcs apply to both conditions for Outmaneuver to trigger.

Cheers, pretty much your answers were my argument as to why I could play Outmaneuver.

It works all day long and Kath loves it!

If a future opponent tries to argue against this, point them to the FAQ, page 21, Section 5, General, question 6:

"Q: Do firing arcs that are not primary firing arcs (such as an auxiliary, mobile, or special firing arc) count as firing arcs for card abilities such as “Backstabber” or Outmaneuver?

A: Yes."

Excellent!.

Also page 18 in the FAQ explaining that very card.

"Outmaneuver

A ship with a turret weapon (including a ship with a 360-degree primary turret) is affected by Outmaneuver unless it is defending against a ship that is inside the printed, shaded firing arc on their ship token, and only gains the benefit of Outmaneuver when attacking a ship inside the printed, shaded firing arc on its ship token.

All firing arcs (including special, auxiliary, mobile, and primary firing arcs) are included for this ability."
