So I want to make gunslinger...

By fist, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I play a Human Jedi Gunslinger (Smuggler>Gunslinger, Force Sensitive Exile) in my current campaign and found him to be quite the damage dealer and capable all-rounder. I focused on getting the FSE down to Dedication (Pr+1) and FR+1, so his stats are now: Br2, Ag3, In3, Cn3, Wp2, Pr4(3+1). Haven't invested heavily in the Gunslinger tree, but Call 'Em is very handy for disarming people, Rapid Reaction is handy if your Vigilance/Cool is low to ensure you strike first, which works well with Quick Strike. Anything on the fourth tier is good (Spitfire, Deadly Accuracy for more damage), but overkill against mooks. The FSE element gives me the stat boots for Enhance/Influence from FR2.

Force Powers are: Enhance (Agility Side to add +2G to Agility checks), Influence (Control to add FR2 to social checks). Next upgrade will be Seek force power to track down people easier (suits the campaign and character).

Gear: He uses two DR-45 Dragoon Cavalry pistols Dam 10, Crit 3, Accurate 2 (Custom Grip, Bantha Eye Laser Sight, Blaster Actuating Module attachments), Type III Berethron Armour (Soak 1, Def 1) with an Integrated Ascension Cable and binders. Doesn't need much gear. As mentioned earlier, H-7 Pistols are the way to go if you want to critical your target.

Overall: I found that the human stat spread with the bonus from the force means he can do anything competently. I am generally the party face and damage dealer, and with a good intelligence and cunning, he can fill any role. He is a bit on the glass canon side, with only 12/12 soak 4, so you have to pick your battles carefully. Lots of fun to play and I enjoy impersonating Clint Eastwood (from The Outlaw Josey Wales) whom the character is loosely based on.

"Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?" - Love it!

TL:DR: Focus on Cool, Vigilance, Agility and Ranged (Light) and you can play a gunslinger. It's pretty easy. Oh, and a nice pistol doesn't hurt.

I just picked up a copy of Far Horizons, and was inspired to toy around with a Wild West Show style concept, for a Gunslinger/Performer. The specs seem at least somewhat complimentary, and I think it would make for a fun character. Something like Ethan Chandler, in Penny Dreadful. In fact, such a character would mesh well with the pbp I'm currently playing in, and happens to be recruiting...
