Rebel Havoc

So a Salvaged Astromech for the Rebels?

Another question...

I have rebels and imps in my collection. I quite like the havoc but am thinking that it probably is not worth it for me to buy it for my rebels if I only have the one pilot card.

What do others think?

Yes.

Precisely one.

Impossible to know without more information tbh. Depends what the included upgrades look like, depends what his pilot ability is, depends what his cost is.

But probably, yes. I'd expect Nym to be a solid pick for Rebels simply because Sabine. He's not as good a bomber as bomber Ks but I suspect he'll be better in other capacities.

With both Rebel and Scum Nym having different abilities, I think this will set them apart and make them fit in more with what their expected roles are within those factions.

For example, I can see the Rebel Nym focusing more on bomb generation or modification whilst the Scum Nym does something more underhanded withing the fleet.

I REALLY hope it's the other way around - Scum don't really have much in the way of bomb support, and Rebels have the best bomb support in the game already - plus, the idea for me woudl be to emphasise that the scummy guy who's working for the rebellion is super scummy compared to the average rebel, by giving him scummy abilities rather than bomby abilityies.

Depends entirely on the pilot. Many ships are flown almost exclusively for a single pilot (at least at a competitive level), Inquisitor, Corran, Dash. One good pilot is all it takes....

Kinda pains me that Rebel Havoc gets the Scum Astro icon. Now I'll have to get all the named ones for my collection.

To those that haven't noticed: Scum trashcans don't have the faction restriction printed on the card, it's all about just getting the access to appropriate upgrade icon.

And there I was, thinking that enabling Illicits was going to be the last such bs...

It's effing Nym. He could be the only pilot in the pack and I'd buy it. The fact he comes Rebel or Scum is tasty, tasty icing.

I hope it's good, but I definitely feel like FFG took extra time to ensure Rebel Nym is worth it.

Nor do Rebel ones... Just because a slot is exclusive to a faction to begin with, doesn't mean it has to stay that way.

Why of course, you're right. Doesn't help my feeling on the whole "now you have to get that upgrade type from the other faction as well" thing.

although so far there are only 3 unique salvaged astros, genius, R4-b11 and R5-98 which only means buying two more expansions. Without knowing a bit more about rebel Nym I don't know whether any of those will be particularly effective on the Havoc.

Also those two expansions are most wanted and the jumpmaster so there are worse upgrades to have if you decide later you want to try scum and the new wave won't be released for quite a while yet so plenty of time to save...

Lastly I'm just bloody excited for the Scurrg - it makes me want to play Starfighter again. (I don't think 11 year old me appreciated it as much as I should have done at the time due to wondering where the x-wings where... perfectly in line with the miniatures game then!)

Meh, no Unhinged, no Overclocked, no Agromech, so the best option are already of the table.

You could go Painbot or do a R4B11 + FCS built or if he turns out to be the best bomb-carrier ever you might even go "Genius". And of course we don't know what is own bot does.

Edited by Duskwalker

R4-B11 + FCS + homing missiles + GC could be interesting (I assume it would only work with homings as opposed to any missile or torp than requires you to spend the TL - as you only get the FCS target lock after your attack, which I think includes resolving the defence dice steps completely).

Even if the rebel pilot's ability isn't good (i guarantee it will be), there is sure to be some good bomb upgrade stuff you can use with Rebels. Plus it has a decent stat line and an EPT!

Blame that 3 tallon roll for the denial of generic salvage mechs.

3 green tallon roll... a Troll indeed...

Rebel astromechs don't have faction restrictions either. If the other factions got access to a regular Astromech slot similar to the Havoc title,t hey'd probably have to limit it to generics only, otherwise you could have a scum or imperial ship flying around with R2-D2

Unless theres some crazy stuff people come up with Genius or that new unique R4 unit in the spread is awesome, giving it unique salvage mechs doesnt mean much.

Who the hell ever takes anything other than Unhinged anyway?

I use R4 on BTL ion y-wings, and r5p8 sees use on jumpmasters

R4-B11 + FCS + Synched Turret... The H-6 is going to be a fun ship to fly indeed. Now show me the dial FFG!

RecSpec/R4 on Dengar is a pretty solid combo.

I also use R4 on my mindlinked uboats

Any unique cards from either of those packs should be readily available on the secondary market...

... and at a reasonable price I'd suspect...

... especially from the JM5K - I think a couple of people would've purchased that pack in multiples sometime in the past.
